Hoy all, just though I''d post a little problem, with the after market tail lenses I bought. I put these on after I bought it. I noticed this spring the red inner lenses getting what I thought was condesation. But what it was, the lenses were starting to melt. This is due to both rear tail/brake/turn bulbs sharing the same lens.
Darn shame they melted, for I really liked this design. But I did come up with a solution to the problem. Instead of using two incondesent lamps, use one incondesent and one LED bulb. That would cut the amount of heat in the single lens.
Of course I thought of that solution after I bought the Altezza dual lens type.
Don''t make the same mistake I did.

I purchased the same, or very close to Altezza dual lens type for my blazer last year. I didn''t like the way they looked at first. The edges were clear and you could see that they used a white silicone to seal the seams, which on my blazer with black trim looked really tacky. So I took them off, ran some tape around the edges and covered the lenses and painted the edges/seems black and they look totally different and much better. I just used a black gloss krylon plastic spray paint on them and they turned out excellent! I only wish i would''ve thought of it sooner!

The heat off the normal light will kill that LED. LEDs have a very strict heat range and if that bulb was getting hot enough to deform the plastic I''d be really worried about that LED.
