hey guys hows it goin? had a couple questions figured you guys could help me out. i know a little about systems i know how to install everything its just the breaking down the "science" of it with the ohms and sub/amp matching. im lookin for a system no competition status but something that will hit pretty hard and sound good but not to hard. i have a chance to get an alpine type r 12" sub and an alpine v12 amp with it for about 300 bucks total. how hard should it hit? would it be worth it? your opinions??? thanks guys

R's can get loud. it all really depends on the install.
I know a guy hitting 151 on 1 type R.
If you do a BIG ported box tuned fairly high you should get good results.
we're lookin at 2+ cu ft for the woofer. How much power is the amp putting out? R's really start to shine after about 600 watts from what I've seen

**** drop that to 2 ohms.
700 watts to the R will do nicely.

how do i drop it to 2 ohms? i know im a noob at this. i also have two infinity 6800cs component sets(four mids, four tweeters, four crossovers) i was thinkin about putting in when i do this. the mids are 5x7's though. would these be good goin with this set up? what would be a good amp for my components? im going to be making my own door panels when i re do my interior thats why i didnt really care about the 5x7's but id rather have 6 1/2's for the set up.heres the specs on the component sets.
* Size: 5 x 7
* Sensitivity: 92 dB
* Frequency Response: 49-21,000 Hz
* Recommended RMS Power: 90W
* Peak Power Handling: 270W
* Impedance: 4 ohms

any 4 channel with a decent name company will do.
200 watts would do. as for wiring ur R to 2 ohms

I have two 04' R's on 550 watts and they slam and sound great. rattles my windows, and i can jump a penny at least 2"s on my roof. V12 amps sound great too, hits every note.

Ah crap dual 2. u can only wire to 1 ohm and 4 ohms.

so would i be better off gettin a 1ohm amp? only because at 4ohms i wouldnt be getting that much power? or am i wrong?

thatd be the best bet. i mean my friend is running 1k watts to 1 R and it takes it like a champ. smell coils after abit but meh. it's worth it. lol
I've seen people run 1300 watts to a single R daily.
And of course people running 1 12" type R on a 2500D @ 1 ohm (2500 watts) which broke 150dB lol

i take it you guys are talkin about the new model? what do the older models take, cuz i will be like 200 watts over there rated power handling which is 300 watts when i get the hifonics

you should be fine. Subs can take over there RMS fine. Well depends on the company. I mean hell mine are rated at 300 and i frekin put 1700 to it daily! lol
just i wouldnt push the older model as hard. the new model with the crimped surround is ALOT more reactive and all. Helps it ALOT

shiiittttt if u get 2 dual 2 ohm
Find an amp that can run .5 daily
Hifonics XX-Hercules (not much experience with em at .5)
Orion 2500D (dont beat the living piss out of it and u should be good)
DONT GET AN ORION HCCA
Those amps are bad. Find a used 2500D
Mine MIGHT be up on the market soon. Just needs repairs

with 2 dual 2 ohms he can drop that amp down to 2 ohms and feed each sub at least 500rms which is a good match. Do not run that amp anything lower than 2ohms.
thats amp at 2ohms will waaang those R's I'd suggest a good slot ported box for additional output.
