I am about to take delivery on both a 1999 and a 2000 Blazer 4-door 4wd from the fleet at work.
The Ultimate Fate of one of these trucks is to become the drivetrain for a custom-built vehicle.
This vehicle will end up with with a PTO transfer case.
The big burning question is this:
Which would be more practical - finding an adapter for a different PTO-adaptable Tcase or replacing the 4wd version of the automatic transmission with a 2wd unit and using a divorced PTO Tcase?
Bear in mind that the key item of importance is the PTO transfer case aspect - not any driveshaft fabbing or mounting bracket problems. Sure, it would be nice to find a PTO adaptable case with the same ouput configuration (centered, left or right - sorry I haven't crawled under the beasties yet...) so I can reuse the axles, but even that is not as big a concern as the PTO transfer case.
comments??
