Starting two weeks ago, when I would turn the key to start my blazer and the starter would engage for half a second then all power would go away from everything. So I checked the power wire on the battery and it was a little loose and I tightened it up but it didn't seem like it would get tight no matter how much I would tighten it. I was in a hurry that day anyway so i didn't care if it was very tight as long as it started. So Thursday after school a cold front had blown in and it was 30* (yea y'all northerners are laughing cause y'all prolly think nothing of 30* days) so I had made sure to flush the radiator and put new antifreeze in two days before. I hopped in the blazer and turned the key and nothing, no power to any accessories. So I wiggle the battery cable after sitting there for 5 minutes turning the key, totally forgetting the battery cable being loose. So I finally remember and wiggle the cable and it starts up. well I go back around to shut the hood and now I smell antifreeze. I look and this thing is now leaking antifreeze at a moderate pace. I look for a leak and it seems like it's coming from the passenger side rear of the head so now i'm thinkin maybe the antifreeze didn't protect enough or something and the head cracked or something, but no missing, it was running perfect. So I get it home and find that the bolt was stripped that holds the battery cable on.--$.75 Then I look around for the leak, hoping it had to be a hose because I knew the antifreeze was good to at least -10* since I checked it with a tester when I did the flush. So I find the leak. On the right side of the intake there's a hose that runs from the intake to the firewall. Well the clamp on the hose on the intake end had somehow broken, no kidding, it broke it was in two pieces but still on the hose, weird. So it turns out that the leak was running down from close to the front of the intake to the back and down. clamp-$1.00... So the whole time I was thinking it had a cracked head and was going to cost an arm and a leg to fix and figured on selling it and letting someone else mess with it since I already replaced the motor. And now I am once again proud to have fixed a problem but this time for under 2 dollars.
