Blazers are not for drifting

So...i was on my way back from my new boyfriend's house last night, and of course Tennessee has more hills and curves than any freakin place on the planet, so... Here I was, running a few minutes late, about to miss curfew, and I decide to speed around these REALLY sharp curves going downhill. Well...I got spooked. I've got roadrage, and yeah, I speed a lot. But it had been raining (yeah, I know...I'm an idiot)...Anywho. I got scared. So what do I do? I hit the brakes...too hard. Drifted - Off the road. Down the steep incline (still sideways.) Into the woods. Dad and I went back today and I honestly have no clue how I lived to tell the tale. There's no explanation within the laws of physics as to why it didn't flip.
Lucky Me.
Post pix soon.

wow good thing ur still ok! just goes to show that if ur in a hurry dont try and hurry up and speed cuz u might crash or get pulled over or something which will take u even more time. so its just better to be that couple min late or w/e

Glad your alright, this further drives home the point that you shouldn't speed, especially on curvy roads like that.

OMG... I'm soo glad you are alright. Is your Blazer still drivable (intact)? You have been through a lot lately. I sincerely hope your luck gets better.
I learned a similar lesson in physics the other day. I was taking the 90 degree turn on WC Braswell road at a little bit above the limit for the curve and a dog was crossing the road on the other side of the curve and I braked and slid sideways. Luckily it was a right turn and I was on the inside lane. I'm a natural at correcting a spin apparently.... Heavy braking causes the weight to shift forward (brake dive), causing a loss of downforce on the rear tires.
I've seen some wicked drifts and spin outs with S10s because they are so light in the rear.

haha....yeah, i'm definitely gonna cut back on the speed.
When I hit my brakes, it was too hard and they locked up on me. So... it was just really scary. They told me that when you're in a slide like that you're supposed to turn the wheel the direction you're going, but the wrecker dude told me this morning that if I'd done that, I probly woulda hit the neighbor dude's house.
I went over a property marker, so there's a pink mark on my front bumper. There's a couple scratches, but its nothing that won't come off with a good wash or wax...
Seriously. As soon as dad gets those pix, i'll put them up. Its crazy how insanely lucky I got

wow ya i learned my leason of hittin the brakes to hard cept i just went into a snow bank pretty good but didnt damage anything lol

Snow banks can be dangerous too. I barely bumped into some of them and have broke my chevy bowtie trailer hitch cover (plastic) and made a small crack in my front bumper cover (yet again stupid plastic). Snowbanks are really good at hiding ice banks which can cause some real bad damage. A kid in high school hit an ice bank and ripped out his tranny in a little saturn.

not to say i'm the only one who's been there and done that but as far as the luck goes don't push it. i've used up a lifetime's worth of luck like that, doing some stupid stuff that could easily have killed me and sometimes other people. it's never worth it and it always leaves me wondering what i was thinking and of course thanking my higher power (i'm christian but that doesnt pertain to this). and just in case you're wondering i'm 17 (18 in 3 months) so i know that you instinctually won't want to take my advice

, i certainly never did, but hopefully comig from someone your own age or close (i believe i recall reading us being close in age) you'll take this and actually listen and not nod your head and agree and forget about it like i did.

i'm not trying to criticize you or anything i just would really hate to hear about something happening to you and knowing that i didn't try and prevent it.
and of course i am glad to hear that no one got hurt. including the blazer.

and i know exactly what you mean when you look at what happened and say "what if...".
well preacher andy has decided he's lectured you enough with his sagelike wisdom and is letting you go with the caveat that you consider what i said (or typed take your pick).
again i'm glad to hear know one got hurt. did the cops get involved? i hope not.

cops? well...yes and no. Gotta remember my dad is a policeman. ...so is the new bfs dad. And cody (the bf) is in training lol
But as far as a police report, no. no reports. Dad said i didn't have to, so i didn't.

yea i couldn't remember on the age thing an wanted to get it right so i took a peak at your profile. and then i saw on your other posts that you dad was a cop an then i remembered reading it and then i felt pretty stupid. it's nothing new. i forget things all the time an usually remember them at the worst time.
course i'm just glad you seem to be taking at least a little seriously.

most people just call me crazy (i am a little) and don't listen to me. and then later they see what i was talking about.
ok so maybe i'm a lot crazy sue me.
nice pic by the way.

lol, thanks. I need to change it. I don't like it.
&& Yeah, i'm taking this seriously. I coulda died. It scared the heck outta me.
Had to be God, man. Had to be. There's not another explanation

o believe me i know. i can't count on two hands the times i've been in similar circumstances. most not on the side of a road but they were all potentially deadly. several were me following too close and speeding and not paying attention to brake lights. or street lights. or stop signs. or other stupid drivers. someone up there must like me so i try and return the favor when i can.

well you don't want to be around if theres an attractive girl in a nearby car. then it's just plain deadly.
never seen a deer on a road though... guess they knjow iwould even slow down. well i would if i saw em but thats long odds.

Nice to know your ok and that your blazer isn't wrecked!!! Drifting or sliding sideways in a blazer is fun actually!! The safest way to do this though is if number one your lowered like I was then your not tip happy or have to worry about flipping since your lower to the ground and number two if its in a controllable area!!!

Yeah screw lowered, just need some light snow. I was somewhat sideways infront of the local police station, trying to get up a hill turning off of a busy road onto an unoccupied road/parking lot (in the UP) where a police officer drived by and just waved.
Now in all seriousiness, I do "drift/sideslide/spin tires" in the snow at times, it is pretty much the only option for getting out onto the road/off of the road up here due to the hills. This is only at very low speeds and when I know its safe to do so. I have tested in some parking lots so I know exactly how my blazer will react in different situations like that. I have also taken a police drift/skid avoidence course and am certified in winter driving techniques. The course was cool, since we got to do doughnuts in a controlled enviroment, on a flooded skid pad in crown vic police interceptor packaged cars.
In your situation just keep the speed down going into corners, especially when there is wet/snow covered roads involved. It is much better to take a yelling from the parents for not making curfew than it is to wind up in a ditch or dead.

haha ya the snow this yr has helped me perfect my drifting skills but i only do it in open parking lots or on streets when there r no other cars around. so i've learned how my blazer handles in the snow and when and how it will react. and ya if the snow banks become ice banks ya it sux. lol ya plastic sux in the cold thats y i like me 1st gen i got metal bumpers

.
but ya glad to hear everythings ok and ya just another life lesson

Come on people. Please DO NOT post rediculous statements like our buddy lennyblazer has posted. Completely uncalled for and regardless of whether the cop thought it was funny or not, it was irresponsible. Drifting on purpose on occupied public roads is just dumb.
Huhuhh... I drifted in front of the police station and a cop! Go me!!!

Just my opinion, but I think mocking would fall under the "un-called for" category as well....

It wasn't intentional because at the time i didn't have good tires and it is a very steep hill covered in snow. There were no cars on it at the time. I am not condoning this behavior either, it happened once and I thought it was a funny story to share. I have also edited my original post now to correct the "rediculous statements like our buddy lennyblazer has posted".
