hello all...new here hoping someone can help......I cant figure out why my brake lights arent working...i have a 00 S10 2dr blazer...all the bulbs in the rear work ..the turn signals the tail lights and the top brake light above the rear hatch but the brake lights on the rear sides wont work...i just got a warning ticket today...i checked all the fuses and they were fine ....any ideas... Thanks

You checked all the fuses including the fuses under the hood?
And you brake light bulbs are definitly good?

You have dual filament bulbs on your car, One bad filament in a dual filament bulb could be your problem. Try installing some brand new light bulbs in it and see what happens. Keep us posted on your fix.

so you think one bad filament would cause both brake lights to malfunction...ill give it a shot ...thanks

You checked all the fuses including the fuses under the hood?
And you brake light bulbs are definitly good?
Other than checking that both the filaments are good ...yes the bulbs are working...its very wierd

well i switched out all the bulbs and that didnt work...all the fuses are fine in car and under hood does anyone know where the ground wire is mounted on the chassis for the brake/tailights

I'm going to try and send a picture. The gound is #4 on the diagram. It looks like it's inside the left rear corner, under the trim panel.

Sorry bout your problem but I just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I found a loose ground on my third brakelight and it just saved me $133 plus tax and travel and time. The picture in this thread was awesome and very helpful to me - THIS PLACE RULES!!!!

thanks for the pic ...ill have to go look now....as far as the brake switch ...i talked to some shop guys at a dealership and they said if the switch was bad that my cruise control wouldnt work either......i turned on my hazards asnd those even work ...they use the brake lights ...the guys at the dealership pronted me out the wiring schematics and highlighted the wire i need to check to see if its hot...if that wire is good then they said i need to replace the turnsignal box ...197 bucks and 200 for them to install ..400 bucks to fix brake lights thats just stupid.....thanks for the help..ill keep this updated..maybe it can help another person
