Built my own sub box

Built my own sub box a few months back. Ported it with PVC pipe at 4"D x 8"L, used 3/4" MDF for the build, sealed inside and out with Liquid Nails, countersunk about 200 screws into it! lol Anyway I had fun doing it, and it was bliss to hear it the first time! Here is a pic, I will try to get more in my gallery soon.
Also, for those of you who know me, and remmeber the blaze, I dropped it! Pics are in the suspension section.

FYI you dont need ALOT of screws... Just use tite bond and a few screws. The last few boxes Ive built were put together solely w/ tight bond and brads. Much less work, and if you brace its just as strong/ and it looks cleaner. Once the woodglue is dry its many times stronger than the MDF itself....So to make a long post short, 200 screws is about 180 too many... But props on doing it yourself, looks pretty decent. How Are the fosgates?

Yeah true 180 too many, but I had a whole box I would never use again and nothing better to do with them.
The Fosgates are excellent. Very clear, responsive, and booming bass. I have had alot of subs: Kickers, Memphis, MA, and RF. I like RF the best, they last longer and they hit harder IMO.

nice looking build but those plastic cone subs are far from clear and responsive. Booming, i dont doubt it

Ya, i doubt they're in there for sq ditts.... Some people like loud low bass (not me).

That setup looks sweet, but I don't think I could give up my back seats and that much interior space. I'm sure it makes for a fun ride though.

I dont think you can get clear and responsive for under $200 IMO... those fosgates are like 2 for $100, so you really cant expect much.

dbleon and bobditts if you guys want to mock me over what I said please do it in private amongst yourselves because there is no room for that in my thread. Yes, I said Clear, Responsive, and Booming and I would not have said it if it was not. You can mock me all you like about how it is not clear or responsive amongst yourselves through PM, but the fact of the matter is that you have never and probably never will hear this system, and you will never know.
This thread was started because I wanted to share my hard work (with no prior experience might I add) and joy with everyone here. If you don't like it that is fine, say that and move on. There is no need for mocking me here, you have your opinion, I have mine and lets leave it that. Thanks.
To all the rest of you, thank you very much for the compliments, I worked on this project for a long time (4 months) trying to get it right!

My intentions were not to mock you... Bobditts came in and said they are not clear or responsive, i was actually trying to back you up by saying that everyone has there own taste... i also gave you props on the build! So dont get snappy at me. But if you want to start the bashing, i definately have alot to say.

No one is getting snappy at you, and you will not be bashing anyone on this forum. You can keep that mess to yourself or suffer the consequences as so many before you have. Bashing other members is not tolerated on this forum.

You posted this on a PUBLIC forum for OPEN DISCUSSION. It says no where in the TOS that you cannot state your opinion about a product =\
Otherwise....Which rf models are those? Punch 2's? (looks like)

Yes I did. I did not ask for them to mock me though, and it is very disrespectful. All they had to do was say they didn't agree or didn't like it and move on. I didn't start this thread as a product piece. I'm only showing off what I built, that is the topic at hand, not if you like the products I used or not. So keep the thread on topic, it is about the build not the products used and whether you like them or not.
They are Punch 1's.

Very nice setup. What are those, 15's? And how big exactly is that box? Looks pretty big! Is that pic from the back glass or are you in the back a little?

DUDE! Take a chill pill and reread my previous post. I WAS NOT BASHING YOU! I gave you props and told ditts that you cant really get into a good sq (sub) setup for under $200. It was really off topic and in no way indicative of your choice in equipment. I urge you to reread the posts. I have the utmost respect for most people on this forum, and do not "mock" anyone. Look here... i try to encourage audio enthusiasts.

Wow, this thread blew up. lol. OP, I was not mocking you, I was simply stating the facts. Those RF subs, no matter what enclosure they are in, will never be clear and responsive. They might be the most clear and responsive subs YOU have ever heard, but that does not mean that they are what you think they are. Understand? I know the limits of RF subs and those cheap plastic cones are holding them back from their potential.

Ok dude check it out, you typed that not me, and I'm just simply informing you of the situation before it gets out of hand.
I have already said several times to drop the sunject and be done with it, so lets be done with it and get the thread back on track. Thanks for the compliments and all that jazz, lets move on ok?
Yes, they are 15's and I took the pic form the back glass, I dont remember the exact dimensions on the box, but I can tell you it was what RF reccomended to me for a seperated chamber dual setup with ports. I'm really impressed myself with how it turned out, especially since it is my first box and all that. I don;t know what all this talk about sq is, but I figure it has to do with how loud it is I guess or something like that. I can tell you this for all the systems I encounter out there going to shows and club meets and get togethers, this system puts more than its fair share to shame. I'm not saying it is the best, but it is really exceptional to hear and see in person. I don't care what bobwhateverhisnameis has to say about it.

From an outsiders view, the squabbling needs to end before a moderator or admin steps in. Personally, I would have already gave props to rabbit for a job well done (regardless of SQ) and locked the thread. It's the internet people, chill. With that said.....
I had 2 RF Punch stage 2's in my blazer. They sounded great, but just didn't fit my style of music. I am now on my 2nd set of Kicker Comp VR's. First were 10's and I took them out and put them in my Silverado when I thought I was gonna have to sell the blazer. Realized I wasn't so I left em in the truck and got two CVR 12's for the blazer.. they sound great.. I loved my RF's too.. Still got em if anyone wants to buy..lol

It looks real nice Troy, and the suspension drop is kick a**. For not having any experience, that is real good. Better than I could do I bet ya. Keep up the good work.
*And dbleon, drop it and be done with it like Troy said and keep the subject of this post intact please. Troy wanted to show off his handiwork like many of us here have done and will continue to do, so although your opinion is a valid opinion, there is no need for the afterthoughts.
