Can i use a c-clamp to change torsion keys?

EDIT: Combining double posts.  Please use the edit function to add information to an existing post rather than starting another.  Thank you!  TBB.

I have heard that you can use a c-clamp toload a torsion bar to change the key, well this worked on the drivers side after 2 c-clamps,but theexaust is in the way on the passengers side. Twists clamps until theyre useless.4 clamps now. How did you guys do it? Do i really need the $100+ unloading tool? Please help. Truck has been on stands for 2 weeks now.

I have a 2 jaw puller that i will try this weekend, but i have to notch(cut a very small spot) off the crossmember for the puller to fit. By the time its over i think i should have bought the tool. Not a big fan of a 1 time tool.. Burak, how did you use a tranny jack to load your bars? A pic of what im working on.

Sorry for late reply, i live in overseas, 7 hrs difference.

i did my job in my friends garage, he has a two post lift, and

the top part of the jack is removable, when we remove it there is a jacks shaft. I used one spare lug nut upside down ( conical side is up and fits the hole in key) and lift the jact till get the tension out of the retainer. ( while the car is lifted)

Another tool you can produce ;  if your have a spare U shape  leaf spring mounting part, you can get 1"x1" steel block, drill 3 holes, two of them to match the  U bolt ends, one in center of them, you have to tap threads to install a long bolt ( which will be opposite of a puller, actually it will be pusher) , hang U shape part over the traverse, install 1"x1" part to both ends, you have one hole left, this will be pusher bolts place, install a pusher bolt ,once you turn the bolt it should get the tension out of bars.

Sorry for my poor english, I hope i could explained properly.
