I purchased a set of MB Quart Component speakers for my door in my 98 2Dr Blazer and cannot get them to fit. The stock door brackets were of the wrong size and too flimsy, so I ordered these adapter brackets from Crutchfield
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-TFziYbto2N8/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=103200&I=120823043 and the speakers do not fit in these brackets. I called crutchfield and the guy said they "normally work" I asked him if I had ordered a set of 6.5" speakers from them for the front would they have sent me those brackets and he said yes. The entire outside diameter of the mounting flange on my speaker is 6.5". Has anyone successfully mounted speakers of this size w/o a custom bracket? Thanks.

what size components did you get?? Just find a piece of MDF or plywood and cut out the diameter for the basket on the speaker and screw that thing to the door!

I would but there has to be something that sticks out about 2 or so inches so that the back of the speaker doesnt hit the window channel. Worst come to worst ill make something.

if you use 3/4 inch mdf, it should clear with no problem. that is what i did with my adire extremeis and they are about 4 inches deep. just double up the 3/4 inch and should be fine. or put the original brackets back on.

Yeah that would work fine. I shall be doing that. Need MDF for the rear anyways. Thanks Hillbilly.

no problem. doors are trick sometimes. I have a stack of mdf spacer rings that i keep stocked all the time. you would be surprised at how many cars have shallow door mounts! and I always flush mount the speaker in the top piece with a router
