My wife took our 95 S10 Blazer to a local garage who checked the codes and told her it was either the cat or cat sensor. THe engine is a 4.3 CPI

I had just changed the O sensor and the muffler the cat was changed about 40K miles ago - never heard of a cat sensor - is it possible that the cat is fouled and needs replacing already? I also changed the plugs and EGR which was carboned up pretty bad.

Some advice please, and thanks

Cat sensor?

Sounds like a load of crap to me.

Heres a list of GM troublecodes... If you can find a reference to a cat sensor for your car... I sure didnt.

Could he mean O2 sensor?

Actually the O2 Sensor that is behind the cat determines if there is a problem with the catylitic converter, the computer compares readings with another O2 Sensor before the cat and when there is a difference that is outside the operating parameters then it sets a DTC after a predetermined number of cycles....

to 20Blaz00 - are you saying that there are two O2 sensors on the 95 Blazer 4.3CPI? one in front and one behind the Cat?

Depending on when produced, yes. You'd have to crawl underneith and see. In early '95, the federal government implemented more restrictive regulations which required realtime catalyst monitoring affecting late model year '95 vehicles.

As simple as this sounds, make sure your gas cap is tight. If it is, it may need to be replaced. This was why my check engine light was on.
