No power output from the cigarette lighter (1998 Chevy Blazer, 2-dr), and I've just changed the socket with a new one, from the dealer. The parts guy says they stock a lot of these, so they must replace them often.
However, I still don't have any power from that outlet.
The fuse was good before I replaced the socket, but in the process of investigating this problem I've blown two fuses. Now I'm afraid I have a short in the wire bundle. Great - I can't exactly replace that.
What to do?
I need 12 volts to charge my cell phone, and I was hoping to use my new Bell 12 volt dc air pump. The instructions say it draws 12 v, 10 amps - what if I ran this pump from another power source onboard my Blazer?
How many amps come right off the battery? A lot more than 10 amps, I would assume.
Radio Shack and the local auto parts stores sell pleny of cigarette lighter harness, cables, and gadgets. What are my options?
Thanks!

I believe you have 2 auxilliary power outlets on your Blazer. These are the ones I would use for powering accessories. Here is an electrical schematic of the lighter and aux outlets.

Must be a higher trim level thing... I've only got the one socket in mine...

I've only got one socket, also, but I appreciate this diagram. Now if I can only find this spare outlet, I'll be in great shape.
Any clues?
Thanks so much.
