Anyone know where this switch is so I can replace it? Hope it is not inside the transmisson!

Truck still works normally, so do I really need to fix it?

The pressure switch is mounted on the valve body.
Check the trans fluid level, first.
is your fluid clean? It could be as simple as a sticking valve.

Oil is clean and at the correct level. I had engine oil and filter changed 1000kms ago.

Is the valve body inside the transmission housing so the transmission oil pan has to be removed to access the switch? Stone gards will also have to be removed.

You should check to be sure, as I don't have a manual for a 96, but the newer Blazers have the switch inside the transmission. You would have to drop the trans pan, (might as well replace the filter while you're in there). Then you should be able to see the switch on the valve body. I don't believe you have to remove the valve body.

Let me know when you find out. I don't want to be giving out bad information. I'm learning too.

Transmission shop says they have to go in to the tranny and fix a valve as it controls the lock up. It will take 2 hours and parts they have in stock.

They say it is common but I could not find any posts on it. Curious!

That makes sense from what I've read so far.

Make sure they replace the transmission filter while they're in there.

Let us know when it's fixed,

Got the Blzr back Monday. It was fixed earlier but we were heaading on the oposite dirction to pick it up

Result was a contaminated switch on valve body.

Previous owner must have added some tranny conditioner and it disolved the gaskets and placed it on the swich causing it to stick. Much scraping and a few tries and it is now working.

The tranny shop has seen rust inside the xmsn from this stuff, claim it has a high acid content, so beware of snake oil

Excellent! I find that even if you need to take your truck to a shop that often, when they think you know something about it, you're less likely to be taken advantage of. Also, the more information you can supply, the easier the diagnosis, in most cases.
