i took the cab back off again and got the right side of the fire wall all fabricated and welded up today. ill post some pics later this week when i get the other side done. it was pretty hot today, so i had to keep going inside to cool off in front of the ac with a cold beer. as you can imagine, i started to move pretty slow after doing that a few times.

I've got me a spiced rum & coke right now...except I didn't work on trucks today, I worked on graphics behind a desk...but we both still deserve a drink for all our hard work! Cheers!

its already bagged with slam specialties bags, 1/2" lines and 8 1/2" valves, 9 gallon 8 port tank, and a triangulated 4 link.

Zero, how do you like the SS bags? I'm trying to decide between those or the Contitech bags.

What valves are you running? I'm looking at GC Extremes, wanted to see if you could offer any input.

I got my air tank and I've ordered my compressor, so I'm gettin there! Me and my buddy Thomas and our friend Ashley just bagged Thomas' '97 S10, I've got the bug more than ever now!

im not sure how i like the slam bags yet cause i havent driven on them yet. i had some cheap ass AIM bags on there when i first bagged it and drove on those for a year. when i blew 2 of the bags, i took it off the road and redid my whole suspension and did the body drop. im not sure what brand valves are on there now, but i got the a while ago on ebay for dirt cheap. when they let go, then ill probably get some E air valves. i guess theyre supposed to be great and not cost a fortune. but these ones now actually work pretty damn good for cheapies.

hey, i got a set of triangulated 4-link bars form FBI for sale if your interested...

ha ha! sorry bout that. ive been so busy working on the house, trying to get everything done before winter. so hopefully i can get the firewall in primer this weekend, or at least ready for primer and shoot it the following weekend. this damn home ownership stuff is really slowing me down.

really cuts into your day doesn't it? Work too, I mean I've got better stuff to do... I wanted to ask: have you ever used paint stripper rather than sand the whole thing? Don't drink and then sniff the fumes though-not a good combo.

nah, ive never heard anything good about striper. smelly, messy, toxic. plus, im not snading it all down to bare metal. the body is just going to be sanded with 500 or 600 grit on the DA just to dull the clear and get it nice and smooth. the only time you have to go douwn to metal is when you're repaiing dents or rust, or welding.

The problem I have is all the peeling paint. Two layers are peeling. I stripped the hood, was just alot easier for me to get it smooth with all the different layers peeling and uneven. That went well so I decided to strip the whole truck. Did it outside yesterday. A word of advice: Never EVER buy cheap stripper!! Buy the best you can find. Cheap stuff wasn't strong enough, so then I used the Aircraft Coating Remover-took all the stubborn areas right off. Probably would've saved me 4 hours. Now my sister tells me, "Oh, I forgot to tell you that." Grrrrr.

wow! finally got something done! firewall is all done. i decided to save some time and money and paint the engine compartment spray bomb flat black. plus it will help with the retro look ill probably end up going with. and yeah, yeah i know you can see some sanding scratches if you look real close, but im not building a show truck here and when i start dragging the hell out of it, it'll get all scratched and chipped anyways. its only a firewall. well, here ya go. next step, put it back on the frame and put the doors forward together before it snows.

thanks guys! thats another reason i went with flat black, Time, it hides flaws. im running out of decent weather and the firewall still needed some more work to make it perfect. a little more mud, a skim coat of putty, sand it, prime it, sand it, paint it, and clear it. its getting too cold and i really want it done for next summer so i got to take some shortcuts. if it was an all out show truck, id spend more time on it, but this is going to be driven as much as possible when its done

id love to help you out drkmelvin. just let me know. im always up for helping out a fellow minitrucker as best i can.
