Hey there everyone new to the site. Just bought a 97 SBlazer.
I curious about rear enclosures for subs and amps. Problem is I can't afford to lose any of my cargo space, I have 3 kids and a large dog. So I need all the storage I can get. Plus I 'd like it to be kind of stealth because I don't live in the best neighborhood.
If anyone has any suggestions, or even better some pics, I'd greatly appreciate it.

you could look into a truck box although it wont sound great cause it's a qsmall ammount of airspace.

you could find a sub that uses a very small amount of space and just put it in the back....maybe 1 cu. ft.

I was thinking two enclosures, one on each side behind the wheel wells also using the spcae within the fender for volume. One side already holds the jack, that would get relocated and I'd have something to match on the other side. Probably not going to use anything bigger than a 10 or 12 inch sub.
This is by no means intended to be a show quality system.

Wow! That's pretty much dam near what I'm looking for, but off the shelf! Cool, thanks.
Now how about the specs? .6 cu ft? kinda small isn't it? What about it being a sealed box instead of ported? Edumacate mez.....

Basically your gonna have to sacrifice sound quality for space or vice versa. It is small, but if you find the right sub, it will osund decent. Yeah, its a sealed box, it doesnt have the ports in it and it can't be ported either. It's too small for porting and would be useless according to them. It's a great looking box, not quite my cup of tea, but it may work well for you if you want to keep that cargo room. anyways you can put an 8" or a 10" sub of your choice in it, or you can put an L5. It gives you some decent options as far as the sub goes.

Sony?!
For now. I'm trying to kill the amp, but it just won't die. Works well enough for the time being.

Here's what i have in the back of my blazer, it's probably bigger than you want, but it holds two 10's. I've got a cargo box built that goes between the sub box and the tailgate, and then a false floor on top of it all. Just needs to be carpeted. Anyways, pics... (not finished yet, but you get the idea):

BTW, are you rblank from the NEA? I'm a delegate from NEZR2
LoL...yeah, that's me. I guess you can say I get around.
I'm more concerned with sound quality than I am with it just being
LOUD for everyone
OUTSIDE the truck to hear.
My original thought was to have the subs mounted in about that location, but to have a custom made enclosure that incorporated that space, plus whatever is behind the side panel. I tihnk I can get it to about 1 cu ft per enclosure. The big trick will be sealing the interior of the fenderwell.
The other option I've been thinking is to run the components off of one amp and have a box with a separate amp on disconnects that I can remove when I need the space.

yeahhh, anybody that has a system learns early on that these subs/amps suck: sony, jl, audiopipe, kenwood, audiobahn, and pioneer sucks. and the ones that don't suck are way over-priced and you can get better quality for your money. end of story.

OK, not to sound like an ass, but I need a better explanation than "they suck." Tell me
WHY they suck.
And if in fact they do suck who's products should I be looking at? Remember this is not a show or competition system, but the last time I was serious into this Bazooka tubes were brand new.

For what your gonna be using it for Sony will work for ya'. Your not going to be bumping super hard you just want a little better sound than ya' got, and your not looking for show material. So get yourself the box you like and is going to give you the cargo room you need. The only reason we say Sony sucks is because we are out turning heads and bumping super loud, we want show quality stuff, and Sony is way below par on our usage standards. For a nice decent normal use system SOny is gonna work for ya'.

True that, but he isn't after an above average system either.

Ironically I hate Sony, so I probably won't be using them. I've had nothing but problems with anything Sony I've ever owned.
What about some other speaker company recommendations? Polk? Boston Acoustics? MB Quart? etc....

Infinity is my preference, but then again, i have infinity, alpine, and sony in my truck... so i'm not exactly brand loyal.
