Hey guys, I am new to this forum and to working on Blazers in general. I have a camaro that I work on, but my parent's AC went out recently, and they live in Oklahoma. firestone quoted them like a grand total for the repair. I wanted to help out and do it myself. I already got an evaporator of 1/4th what firestone quoted. Now I just had some follow up questions:
1. firestone said that the following need to be replaced:
A78588 Drier/Accum 88.12
A8292 Fixed orfice tube 5.62
R134A 2lb 19.20
R134A 2oz 1.20
do i need the Drier/accumulator to get the AC to work again? How about the orifice tube?
is it absolutely necessary to refill with R134s or can I just recycle what is already in there?
2. i had read a prior post that i found through the search feature that explains exactly what needs to be taken off. I would really appreciate if anyone has pictures of any of the parts that need to come off. Also, any helpful insights from those that have done this before would be greatly appreciated. i can use all the help i can get.
3. is the replacement process described in detail in either the chilton's or hayes repair manuals (pictures are particularly important since i have never worked on a blazer other than changing the alternator; which took all fo like 5 minutes).
I, as well as my parents, will appreciate any help you guys can offer.
