Might need a noise filter. I could be wrong here but i think that is noise from your alternator.

Yea I am pretty sure its the impedience of your altenator, or in other words the noise like rabbit said. If you have a better HU this probably wouldnt happen though.

not true at all. could be a ground loop. could be a few different things.

Yea what do they call it, like Tree-Top loop or something? But if it was a ground loop it wouldn’t make sense that that is the problem from what he is explaining happens when he accelerates...but then again dont quote me on that.

I had a bad ground in my pioneer head unit, and i would get feedback from everything.

and my buddy had an alpine that you could hear it if he touched the turnsignals, brake pedal, and you could hear the idle through his subs. had a ground loop and his rca plane was bad as well. i grounded out the shield of his rcas until he could get a new deck

where do yo connect the noise filter if the noise is coming from the alternator
hillbillyinOhio

first you need to address the question I asked you. the noise might not be from the alternator.

bah, i've never had that problem. sounds weird, though. maybe try a ground loop isolator?

try a new ground for radio. as a test, run a wire outside of the car to the negative terminal on the battery. hook that up to the ground on the deck. see if that helps. if not, look at all the wiring and see if anything is bare wire and let us know what you found.

my trucks am reception is horrible when the engine is running, but /w the engine off crystal clear. I have numerous shops look at it and they said perhaps a diode was leaking? interference, but why only in the am stations

they are different parts of the board. go to an auto parts store and get an antenna booster. cost you probably 20 bucks, am and fm are totally improved. def worth the 20 bucks.

hillbilly, how do those attach?
hillbillyinOhio
12/10/2006 3:03:24 AM
need power and plug in car antena into it, and lead into radio. if you still have a factory radio, will need to also buy an antenna adapter, like metra 40-GM10

my guess is that you have something up with your wiring. the correct thing to do in the long run is check all the wiring . but you can buy a noise blocker. try crutchfield.com
