Well I kinda stalled on this post, but a couple weeks ago I was indentured into local 179 Plumbers/pipefitters/welders/sprinkler fitters/and refrigeration fitters. So Im officially a 1st year pipefitter, I also got to try arc welding at my last job, and its not so hard!!! just make a puddle and drag it......of course it was just practice, I also learned the hard way of how to get shocked by a welding machine. We were up on a scaffold in a potash mine and it rained the night before. So I get the welder all set up, I sit on the scaffolds alluminum pole with wet gloves sitting in a pool of water holding a piece of 4" SS pipe, and I say "hit me" my welder stabs it with the stinger, and I got 1 hell of a shock!!! so I stood up all shocked, and i feel my leg is asleep so I look down and im standing on the damn cable which is also shocking me.....ya, I like to learn the hard way........

So ya, that was my 1st experience in the trade, moneys good, people are good, and the work is fun, what more could I ask for? I'm now waiting till spring to go to another potash mine which is about an hour from my place. If the site is more than 100km's from city hall we get a living allowance of $100 for everyday worked, seeing as how we usually go a few months straight, its some nice coin. I will just drive back and forth everyday and save.............for a camaro

only 4 more years till I get my journeyman ticket!!!!! anyone else into the trades?

thank you!!! thats weird that they kicked him out for that......I already took 2 classes, a blue print reading course, and a hot air welding course, its using hot air to weld pvc pipe, takes a very steady hand, and lots of concentration, otherwise it will burn.
