I have a 91 s10, and I cant get the headlights to turn on. If I hit the switch, the parking, tail and dash lights come on, but no headlights. Any ideas or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.
one more question, this may or may not be related. If I clamp on an ammeter on the neg cable of the battery, it reads 25 amps DC with the truck running, and about 600mA with it off, is this normal, or am I doing something wrong.
Thanks

I don't suppose it's possible that you have 2 burned out headlights? Have you tested the connectors for power and ground?

I can't overlook the obvious "Did you check your fuses" response...

If hitting the switch causes your other lights to come on then I would say get a bigger hammer and push those electrons farther down the line....(LMAO).
Seriously it sounds like your headlight switch might be the answer but check your fuses also. I would check the back of the switch to make sure that the connectors are fully seated and making good contact.

Seriously... check the drivers side headlight assembly fuse under the hood..... if it is blown then parking lights and everything will work, but neither set of headlights will work... sounds crazy but its true... your passenger headlight is controlled by your drivers side headlight.. I just had some headlight troubles and it was the fuse in the box under the hood... check the ones for the driver and passenger sides... thats probably what it is.... if not, troubleshoot your drivers side headlight first...... it could be causing the problems because it also controls your passenger headlight...
