I have recently purchased a 1978 K5 Blazer and I absolutely love it! Vital stats are: 400 Cid small block, T350 auto, NP203 (part time 4x4), all stock, all origional, even the paint. Bought it from a kind-hearted senior citizen who just moved out here from Vegas. Only rust on whole rig is silver dollar size rust spots behind rear wheel wells on each side down low, thats it. Currently saving money to give it a lift, paint job, and 36" mudders (don't worry, it's all for show. It would break my heart to hurt this truck in any way). My immediate plans are to media blast the floorpans and frame and paint with POR-15 to preserve the virgin metal. I would pull the body off, but I don't have anywhere to do it at the moment (live in an apartment). Anyone who has any tips on bulletproofing floorpans against road salt/chemicals, or any sheetmetal for that matter, I'm all ears. Hope to hear from ya soon.

I think that they have this 'rubber' type spray that you can put on the bottom of your truck to help with the corrosion and stuff but I'm not too sure about it though. I never needed it so I never paid too much attention to it. I plan on going the opposite way you are...I'm going low. Welcome to the club!

i agree with 01xtreme...... there is such a thing as that kind of spray. And depending on how much you want to spend you can it in cans either rubberized like he said or non-rubberized. Or you could always go for the paint on bed-liner. That seems to work also. You just have to make sure that you are able to clean the majority if not all of the rust off of the underside of the vehicle that you are undercoating, or you could have problems with it in the future.

Thats what I figured. Fortunetly there isn't much to clean off. I got lucky to find such a clean truck that is so aged. Must not have been driven much.

you are lucky to find a truck like that! Makes things a WHOLE lot easier then. Make sure to tell us how it turned out.

Yeah, I couldn't have found this truck if I was looking for it. The friend I bought it from had been trying to sell it to me for a year before I finally decided to even take a look at it. I couldn't believe the condition it was in. I still haven't done anything with it, but this winter I'm sure I'll get started.
