all i gotta say is GO BIG RED !!! i am the only one in my family (both sides) not born in nebraska(had to settel for kansas). did your recharge kit have a pressure guage on it? somewhere in the ballpark of 50-55psi theres a high pressure switch that will flip and it will shut down the compressor.id get a guage and see if you didnt overfill it to begin with. i put 2 cans in my truck about 2 weeks ago and at first it wasnt blowing cold air but i work outside so im used to it and i drive with the windows down anyway and i had it on today (it was raining) and it was blowing a lot colder. but a few days after i filled it i checked it and it read 50 psi. (right after i filled it it read 45-47) so i held the valve open and let some out.

Did you pull a vacum first?  Because moisture in the A/C system is it''s enemy and the only way to remove the moisture from the A/C system is to pull a vacum.  If your system was discharged and open to the atomsphere at all you need to pull a vacum. (29 inches of vacum for at least 20 to 30 min)  Did you replace your receiver/dryer?  The receiver/dryer (also called the accumilator)  will remove trace amounts of moisture but is not a substitute for removing all the moisture in the system prior to charging.
