Bored and killing time waiting to pick up my friend. Decide to lay a patch. Have never done so in the blazer. It went well. Only the right rear spun so I don't have a limited slip I assume. Anyway. I go to leave and I now have this horrendous road noise. The whole car also vibrates when accelerating and deccelerating between 20 and 30 mph. WTF?? I knew I shouldn't have attempted that. It seems (tranny) to shift fine through all the gears. Its an auto. The sound definately seems to be coming from the rear. Help??

Probably broke some teeth or wiped out some splines. Don't drive it. Take the rear diff cover off and look for any damage. Inspect the fluid for parts too.

how long was the burn out? how far did you have the brake down? maybe you fried the rear brakes?

Yeah, that too. Could be a caliper sticking.

I wish I had the space to tear the diff apart at my new place. Oh well. How much you think thats gonna run me at the shop if its the diff??

If you messed up somethin in the rear it won't be cheap. If they just check and nothin wrong it will cost for new fluid, rear cover gasket, and prolly an hour labour depending on how they charge.

What does the tire look like?
I did the same thing with my car and blew a few belts in the tire and it vibrated all over the road. Sure was fun though lol.

You need a new mechanic. Mine's $65/h and that's Canadian price

well, if you go in expecting to pay 85 an hour, you will be much happier when they charge you 65 an hour, lol

You rip off artist LOL Just kidding. My mechanic is actually pretty cheap. The last guy was $80/hr.

Turns out it was the rear u-joint. Cheap part, pricey labor! I am lucky it wasn't the diff after all.
