helping my blazer live longer

this is my first vehicle and i want it to live as long as i can
heres the things i hvae done to it so far
K&N Air filter put it
Valve head gaskets replaced
Heater core replaced
Oil changed
next thing i want to do is get a throttle body spacer

but where do i go after that to just try and help it live longer, increase performance, and maybe help out with MPG

The best thing that you can do to ensure a long life in your truck is to keep up with all the maintainence.
Change all the fluids regularly, treat the rubber weatherstrips, clean all the mud and salt of the bottom every spring etc...

it has 170k miles on it
would it be worth it to get a cold air intake?

your car sounds exactly like mine and this is exactly what i'm trying to do with my blazer (minus the HP increasing). i spent only $500 but mine is a 242,xxx mi. vehicle lol, but still runs strong! to increase longevity, you can seafoam the motor to flush out everything (top end, injectors, TB, oil system). then, dump some Engine Restore in the oil to restore compression. after that, switch to synthetic to keep it running strong. make sure all fluids are properly changed at all times, and this will maximize performance, MPG and the overall life of the vehicle!

wow thats alot of miles for it to be running that well, do you have AIM id like to talk to you more about the procedure

1/3  in the engine
1/3 in the brake booster

let sit for 10 minutes then rev it up, drive it around for a while till all the smoke clears, change the oil and then its done

is this the right way??

 My 2001 blazer has over 128 thousand on it. I bought it with 34 tousand +. Look how much driving I've been doing...LOL

1/3 in the fuel tank, 1/3 in the brake booster line (or any other that leads to the intake), and 1/3 in the oil during a fresh oil change. don't run it in the oil longer than 200 miles though, so drain the oil after that and the used oil will be blacker than satan's heart. then, switch to synthetic.

mines a 96 with 246 xxx kms on it and it still runs perfect

Same here with the rebuilds in the future, I plan on power plant swapping if I can afford it!!  (ls6 oh yea)

haha i've seen v8 swaps done and i've seen supercharged v6s beat them simply because they are lighter
 
alot cheaper, easier on your tranny and suspension.

Easier on your suspension, true I wont have your normal suspension though when I do my swap I will have a lsd in and independant rear supsension, all of which will be on air ride suspension built tough and by me so putting power to the ground and making it dependable wont be an issue LOL. Another thing it will all be brand new from chevy I wont mess with a junkyard when I do my swap!!

i'm gonna be parking my blazer in the fall and buying a good old fuel efficient nip nap :(

fixing any/all the rust on my truck and hopefully not have to paint the whole thing.
but if it doesn't have a body you can't drive it either

That is very true no body no driving!!! Yea I got lucky with my rear end I got it for 200 bucks and one of my fellow car club members is bringing it down to me next month I can't wait, I will do a full buildup of how to install an independent rear end in a blazer when I go to put mine in!!

Why does that sound funny?? I am bagging the front after I get off work today so it will soon say tucking 18's LOL!!!

i just remember watching my brother lift his first car and cut the coils down and put them back on. to his amazement his car no longer had suspension. wow. a buddy of mine lifted his truck by using block and cranking his torsion bar. i wouldn't recommend that. not on an s10 blazer anyway
