Hey guys,

I have a customers 94 4.3l here and we''re stumpped!

When the gas is applied the vehicle boggs out and loses power.

So far the fuel pump, filter, egr, plugs/wires, dist., AIC valve, TPS, injectors, and cat have all been replaced. We have tried carbon cleaner, fuel system cleaner and have just run out of ideas. A service writer at Chevy told me we did everything they would have done and had no answer for me.

Has anyone out there run into this problem? How did you solve it? Thanks in advance.

mass air flow sensor if it has one needs cleaned or replaced.  That would be my first guess.

The CPI motor does not have a MAF sensor.  However, have you monitored the MAP sensor?  Have you verified that the timing is correct?

My 97 4.3 did this as well, mainly when it had a load on it. i.e. climbing a hill...accelerating quickly. I don''t know if yours has a knock sensor, but replacing mine seemed to eliminate the problem. At least until it rained. Now my mechanic suggests perhaps a cracked ignition wire getting wet.
