Hi!

Hi. As my user name implies I am a BroncoII fan. I am not here to bash anybody. I am here because I purchased a 1989 S-10 Blazer and would like to learn more about it. Some of you may be familiar with me from other automotive type forums. I look forward to asking lots of stupid questions and learning much from you folks.

I do enjoy automotive electronics and have used several GM Parts on my Fords and perhaps I can help y'all in this respect. I am also a Ham Radio Operator and could help with your sound and comunication system installs.

Future plans for my Blazer are engine and suspension upgrades. I am an avid off-roader and plan to use my Blazer hard.

I look forward to learning from y'all and perhaps passing along some of my knowledge.

So what are your plans for your new found orange streak your already blue blood? Being an '89, it's an excellent platform for a 350v8 swap. We've got afew here that have done it. I'd love to do it to my Bravada, but I fear the electronics would make it VERY difficult. I even have an extra 350 4 bolt layin' around to use...

I'm fairly new to the site, but I enjoy the information and discussions. I don't have much to offer in advice, but I try to listen and learn. I chip in when I can, but that is seldom.

A V8 swap is not out of the question, funds permitting. The electronics really are very easy, especially if you use a carb but only slightly more difficult for a fuel injected engine.

That is where you Chebby guys have it made. Lots of stuff available.

I look forward to my new project and I hope this Blazer fairs better then my 93 Sonoma I bought new. What a heap that thing was. 2.8 liter with serious problems. Traded it with 35,000 miles for a 97 Dodge. I think my problems could have been resolved had I'd found a better service dept. Some suck. LOL :)

I think the 4.3 (this Blazer comes with an extra 4.3) is just as good as the small block was. JMHO

And actually my blood doesn't run Ford Blue. I just prefer Ford trucks.

Ah, well, I was meaning that on my 2000 Bravada, the electronics are a major block to throwing in a 350. A lot more goes on that the PCM in the newer trucks controls. Don't know what would be affected by a motor swap... That coupled with the emissions restrictions on newer vehicles... Something your '89 doesn't have to deal with or atleast not to the extent of my 2000.

I never liked the 2.8L engines, but I do know that my grandfathers '89 2.8L s10 2wd 5sp really has some get up and go. It should considering it weighs next to nothing! That truck is still kicking around my dads farm. Now that would be fun to drop a 350 down into. Such a sleeper! Would have to do some serious reconstruction on the rear axle to make it stick and transfer the weight properly to keep the tires from burning off, but it would be fun.

Thanks for the props on the Chevelle. Sadly, the car isn't in that condition anymore. Quickie bondo jobs that were done before that photo was snapped (before I bought it) have come out. It hasn't been on the road since '98. I can't wait until I have the time, money and space to work on it again. It'll be a fun project for my son (who's 7mo old now) and I to work on together. I'm sure that I won't have a chance to work on it until he's old enough to wrench with me (that starts at like 18mo right, LOL).

Actually, the 4.3L (balance shaft asside) is really a 350 with 2 less cylinders. For quite some time, the pistons, rods, bearings (both rod, crank, & cam), valves, rockers, etc... Were identical to the ones used in the 350. Even the cam profiles were identical. I don't know when this stopped being true or if it did, but I do know that it was at one point.

Nothing wrong with the BII, although I think you will find that S10-Blazer is a great platform to build a decent trail rig, especially once you swap out the front axle. Great to have another wheeler on this site. Maye some day we could hook up and go wheeling. Post up some pics when you get a chance.

That looks like my dad's old Bronco.

I like Ford trucks as well. I never thought I'd own a GM vehicle, but I LOVE my Blazer. I like the look of my '93 better than the newer one, though, so I'll probably stick with pre-95 if I can.
