I picked up my new winter beater last week. I got a 97 4dr 4wd blazer cheap! 700.00! bright red. no rust(that's saying something for michigan)or door dings, loaded,inc grey leather.
here's the fine print. has 154k on the odo.. and has some major issues.
1. steering is loose. like 40-50degs of free play on center...i have the front end up in the air.. all appears fine...
2. the ignition key is not removeable about 90% of the time. (put the blazer in park, go to remove the key, and you can't twist the key all the way counter clockwise to remove it from the column..i have no idea how to fix that...
3. all of the normal blazer problems..both doors need new pins and bushings, the rear wiper motor doesn't work. air needs to be charged,ect..

Good deal at $700, holy crap. You musta known the person you bought it from for that price. wow.
Sounds like you need a new ignition in the colomn. For the steering issue, get an alignment done and they will also tell you if any front end parts need replaced. Do the door pins your self, its a cheap fix.
All in all you get all your little probs fixed and you still got a smokin deal.

my girl and i went out for lunch last sunday.found it in the parking lot of the coney island we went to. the seller is moving out of state and didn't want to dump any money in it. it only had been up for sale for about an hour..he was asking $850
i have plenty of time to get this thing ship shape before i start driving it (mid november)
right now the list starts with cleaning it up...a little too nasty on the inside for my taste.

hi and welcome, hope your blazer ac compressor aint gone like mine. very common problem. about 600 for a hvac to fix. sorry had to bring it up. good luck with everything
