Cool, I am geting an 85 2dr 2wd v6 blazer from my roommate in two days. Now we just need a 2nd gen ZR2 and we will have one of each S-series from each generation.
What kind are you looking at?

Take them both for a test drive and see which one you like more. I'm betting that the 85 is a 2.8L and the 89 will be a 4.3L.

Hopefully the '89 is in better shape. I always hated the 2.8L pushing an auto tranny because of the lack of power. The 4.3L makes a world of difference.
Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

The carbed 2.8 in an '85 2WD S10 is gutless... I'd hate to see it in a 4x4 auto, lol.
My Blazer at roughly between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle had more pick up than the old S10 at full throttle...
Though, that 2.8 has a wicked full throttle growl in the exhaust that the 4.3 can't touch... Stock for stock, the 2.8 sounds better, lol, then again, it's a 60 degree V6 vs a 90 degree...
Well whichever you decide to get, good luck! :)
We'll keep ya even if you dont have a Blazer anymore. hehe!!!
