Ok Its Been A Good Min Since I've Been On Here But.. I Have Been Having Issues With My MPG's In My Balzer..I Ment To Post This Awhile Ago But I'm Have Nothing To Do At Work ToDay Soo Here Ya All Go. When First Got My Blazer I Was Getting 18-20 Sometimes 22 Mpg's If I Babyed The Piss Out Of It.. Anywho Now I'm Getting 12-14 Mpg's... No Matter How I Drive Babying It Or Beating On It.. And It All Started After I Did A Full Tune Up Ac Delco Plugs, MSD Wires, CarQuest Cap, CarQuest Rotor, And PTC Fuel Filter... Thats When I Really Noticed It And The My Fuel Pump Went Out Aboot A Month Ago Now I'm Getting A Consitant 13.5 mpg 14.5 Is The Highest.. And It Dosne't Make A Differance If I Add Fuel Injector Cleaner...

When's the last time you did a tranny/differential flush? Last time I did mine, my MPG skyrocketed up. Do you have 4WD?

AC Delco cap + rotor is usually the best way to go...
Do driveline maintenance, change the air filter, or clean it if it's a reusable one.
Check your coolant level, just in case...
If it started getting crappy mileage right about when winter started... Don't spend so much time warming it up

"If it started getting crappy mileage right about when winter started... Don't spend so much time warming it up "out
I agree with DrPerry, Huge factor that a lot of people forget about!

Another thing to consider is that most northern states have a "winter-mix" fuel that typically results in lower fuel mileage.

Also another good point by Kyle. That's probably why my mileage is down as well, already keeping in mind the 5 min to warm it up every morning. My advice especially is to stay away from BP Amaco if you have them around you. I have seen Acura, Honda, and Cadillac dealers service departments tell customers not to use their gasoline, especially in the winter. Also bad in any Chrysler/Dodge 3.5L High Output engines. Also stay away from the Speedway, Jewel/Albertson, Dominick's, Sams Club, Costco, these tend to be the "bottom of the tanker purchases from the oil and petroleum companies and contain all the leftover crap" straight from a petroleum chemical engineer's mouth. You're better off paying the extra $.05 for the Chevron, Texaco, Sunoco, 76, Phillips 66/Conoco, Shell gasoline. Just my 2 cents.
Good point Kyle.

Also, if you have any one of the stations listed on
TopTierGas.com, use them!

I think I will fill up at the shell from now on, it is usually the same price wise as the walmart station up here except for not having the save 3cents per gallon with a walmart gift card. It looks like right now I am getting somewhere between 10 and 13mpg in the snow, which I can afford since i dont drive too often. If they had a kwiktrip up here i would go there, as that is usually what i fill up with at home.

I will be going to chevron more often, my gas mileage has gone down quite a bit and I also think I need a new cat as well!!!!

Yeah I Did Trans And Rear End Fluid Change Haven't Gottin To The Front Yet.. I Was Also Thinking I Might Have Gotten A Bad Set Of Plugs... Cause When I Changed Them In My Dads 00 1500 He Got Shatty MPG's Then Changed Them Again.. And Its Better.. And Marathon Gas is The Way I Go I Gained Aboot 1.5 Mpg's When I Did All The Math.. Compared To Other Stations.. So I Think I'm Gona Change My Plugs Oot Again And Change The Front Diff Fluid... My Next Option I Was Thinking About Doing Is Just Replacing The Injectors...

I would go with the ACDelco platnium plugs if you are going to rechange you spark plugs, they have a 100,000 mile warranty on them and are what came stock and seem to be the prefered plug for our trucks.

Hey Kyle, have you ever heard about that fuel additive 'Ethos'?
http://www.thegassecret.com/ might be worth giving it a shot. I heard about this product being used in oil companies formulas to meet California emissions standards.

I think that would be worth the money to try to see if it really works!!!

Give it a try... Let us know. I'll just say I am skeptical. This is the first I have ever heard of this product, but there have been many other products that claim the same thing and have been proven to not work as advertised. Awhile ago I had found a government site (I think it was EPA) that did testing on many of these supposed "fuel savers". Can't find any reference to it now, but it listed their results when testing each one of them.

Maybe I should try Shell out one of these days...

P.S. if you get thier credit card you get 5% rebate on all gas purchases. So if the gas is $3/gallon you are really only paying 2.85/gallon. The cool thing is you do not have to apply for the rebate, it automatically gets deducted from your next month's bill as a credit. The catch though is you have to pay the bill off monthly or your will negate the benefit of the 5% off, but hey any little bit helps!

Ill fill my tank wih out it, then with it, put on my tach and go at it...
I drive the same route everyday school - home - work so driving wont be an issue
Ill use the same gas station, 1 tank with ethos and 1 without!
Ill let you all know the results.

thanks for voulanteering Zasder! I would do it as well, Im just a little low on fundage right now. Make sure you read the directions, as I believe when you add it to your tank of gas, you are supposed to initially add 3-5o.z. to your oil as well one time only. Keep us updated.

I doubt you
need to add it to your oil...
I'd reccomend against adding foreign substances to your engine oil unless it's needed

No you add 3oz first time to your gas tank
Then for every fill up you use 2oz (since I have a 19 gallon tank) it takes 1oz for every 10 gallons
this stuff isnt going anywhere near my oil lol
BlazerSS

I suggest you read the entire article about the product, it specifically states that you need to "add 1o.z. of Ethos per 1 quart of oil to your oil to see maximum results".

Where'd you find that, all I saw on their website was 32oz for 53.95+shipping. As for adding it to the oil, I am not sure why you would need to do that, as I don't like adding anything but oil to my oil system. Well let us know what you find out. Also they said it could take up to 3 tanks to start seeing the full benifits. Sounds like it would be great for my trips on state highways where the speed limit is 55, since I do between the speedlimit and 60mph and can normally get around 23-25mpg doing that, with that ethos stuff I might be able to pull off 24-28mpg. It would be interesting if they showed results from say a truck/SUV with a V6 or V8.
