Hi All, and thank you for the welcome to your Blazer forum. I'm brand new to the Blazer ownership club, I just bought a 2004 Blazer LS 4 door with only 20,000 KM (approx 12,000 Mi). I'm told by my GMC Jimmy owner friend I've just made a good deal ($18, 000 fully loaded). I bought this Blazer for one reason, to move 4 golfers, 4 sets of clubs, and 4 pieces of luggage to South Caroliona for golf trips twice a year. I'm fairly comfortable with GM products (probably the only North American car maker I would buy a car\truck from), but I'd like your help in letting me know what I should pay special attention to so I can have a reasonable pain free ownership.

We used to be strictly Myrtle Beach guys, but in recent years we've been stopping all over North and South Carolina. On the way down, we stop in Winston Salem NC, spend an overnight there to break up the trip, and play a round in W\S before heading 4 hours down the road to Santee SC. We still take a trip into Myrtle Beach for a round there, but the majority of our golf is in Santee SC now. Myrle Beach started to be a very costly trip, we started going there in the late 80's paying approx $400.00 for our week of golf and stay. In recent years we've been paying over $1200.00 for our week in Myrtle, so we started pricing other destinations (NC, SC, Fl) when we found Santee.....they draw from about 12 courses, and we're just over $400.00 for our golf and stay again.

Just keep up on matanice and everything well lubed, and you shouldn't really have any probs till 100k miles. Thats when stuff usually starts to fail, but its all kinda cheap to fix.

Welcome. I pack camping gear, a passenger and a dog into my truck with room to spare, so you should be fine for your golf trips. PLus, a Blazer id much cooler looking than a mini-van, not to mention it has 4x4...real men drive 4x4's haha

Congrats on you new purchase I'm sure you, like the rest of us, will love your Blazer! Just 2 things that come to mind on your maintenance, make sure that whenever the oil is changed (around every 3000 miles) that the Ball-joints (as well as the tie rod ends,Idler arm and pitman arm) are greased. The other thing is the DOOR PINS AND BUSHINGS. Keep these things lubed at all times I have changed litterally hundreds of these components on S and especially T trucks. Sometimes two or even three sets on the same door!! Keep them lubed with G.M. superlube or equivalent (WD40 etc..) and they'll last alot longer.
