I have a 96' Blazer, 4 door, 4WD. Yesterday I noticed a grinding/knocking noise coming from the drivers side front wheel. So today me and a friend put the truck on the lift and took off the front drivers side wheel hoping to find out what the problem was. We spun the axel and found that the noise is coming fron this rubber boot behind the rotor. The rod that goes into the rubber boot looks as if its not connected. Could somebody please give me some reccomendations on what this might be. I don't know what this needs to be fixed or actually what that part is really considered. So please..if somebody could help me I would extremely appreciate it.
Thanks alot-

Sounds like you have a CV joint problem. Pretty much have to replace the whole CV shaft if the joint has failed.

Do you have any idea on how much this will cost me?
I'm a teenager working for minimum wage and I don't really look forward to dumping hundreds of dollars into fixing that.

It may be a few hundred, but if you have a free day I would tear it apart and find out what the problem really is and just go get the part from your vip or pepboys. If you replace the part that has failed it will save you money then jsut not knowing at all and replacing the whole thing...and who even knows if that would fix it.
