Need some advice

I am re doing all my sound system in my blazer. My main question is about subs. What should I be looking for in subs. Low frequency range? Low ohm ratings?
I have a free gift certificate to have the whole thing installed at circuit city so I want to get the right stuff for them so when they wire it up it wont create conflicts with each other (sub and amp). I am going to get 2 mtx subs and 1 kicker amp. Should the subs be 2ohms and then I get a mono amp and run it parallel and have it run at 4 ohms? I dont want to blow the subs or amp because the ohms are messed up.

Oooh, this is a good question for XBlazer! That guy is a genius with this stuff, though he may try to convince you to go with MD subs instead

! Just kidding X! I'll be gettin' with ya about some MD's pretty soon!

lol Nah I dont try to convince ppl to run MD It depends on the factors (MDs are efficient so if u have small power then i suggest to run em) (also run great on high power as youve seen from mine lol. Lemme know bout the MDs though. I can get ya some great prices)
Now. determining the Ohm load for the subs souly depends on the amp you plan to run.
Gimmie a link to the one you plan on running and then we can determine how low of an ohm load you can wire to and still be stable.
Now heres the thing.... circuit city.... yea i doubt they will know about wiring to a certain ohm load lol.
Consider some other subs before the MTXs though cause the only good MTX series Ive seen is the 9500 series and CC doesnt carry those. Check out CVRs CVXs (if they have them) and some other woofers. explore your options ya know

you'll probably want to run the kicker at 2 ohms(unless its 1 ohm stable) you'll want dual 2 ohm subs to run the amp at 2 ohms. Running the amp at 2 ohms will deliver more power to the subs as opposed at 4 ohms. Unless its stable at 1 ohm or less.
If you gave us links, and model #'s we could help you out ALOT more. And yes mono is the way to go when powering subs. And If they didnt match up they wouldnt install it, or purpose a solution. It's kinda of difficult to "blow" an amp nowdays they have protect modes which shut it down if something is not right.....overheating is the main culprit in most audio related deaths.
Just wait for Jon, he'll hook ya up......

depending you the subs that you are getting, from what i remember, CC only sells mtx subs with single voice coils that are 4 ohms. Think they have the 4500 series and 5500 series in both 10's and 12's. That being said, you would wire them in parallel (all positives together adn all negatives together, yeilding a 2 ohm load. the other way is series giving you an eight ohm load. so you will be looking for an amp that has good power ratings at 2 ohms. ALl that is if you are buying your subs and amp at CC, not just having them install them.

Well most likely I wont be buying the stuff from them, they are just installing it all for free. For subs shouldnt I be looking for DVC subs? Also what are these MD subs you are talking about?

Your system is awesome man. I plan on only going with two subs but I am kind of weary of these MD's, I have never heard of them nor heard anyone talk about them so I am a bit spectacle on the reviews of these. You say they are good, but what about other people?

Ill vouch there above average subs, i mean if there rated at 300, and Jon sends em 1700 daily, they have to be durable. I'm surprised his amp took a crap before the subs.

So price wise how much do they go for? I am not ready to dish out $$$ for subs I have no clue how they sound or if they are good. I know you are probably a very honest guy, but one guys opinion just isnt enough for me. I would rather go with a brand people say is good that still doesnt cost too much. I know rockford makes some nasty subs that people rave over. Then at circuit city they are having a special where you buy one MTX sub and get the second free for $99. THe guy said they handle up to 600rms but I could tell guy didnt know a thing about what he was talking about.

that what u get for running ur amp at .5 lol. but ill vouch for Jon, the subs are awsome, sound quality is amazing, and yes he is putting a ton of power through them. I bought my napalms from him and highly recommend the company. Great bunch of guys!

i wouldnt mind a napalm, but I have no way to pay for it, no paypal or anything, just my mastercard.....So you would be paying $100 for 2 600rms subs? new!!?? sheeeeeet, hard to beat a deal like that......But I'd take a look around before I bought em, I mean MTX is ok, nothin special, and I personally hate the silver cone with the mtx badge, looks silly. check out
www.onlinecarstereo.com lots of good deals to be had, Alpine Type R's are pretty cheap. also take a look at the hifonics amps, most bang for the buck, as they say. you can get the bx1606 1600rms @ 1 ohm for $240. then match it too 2 type r 12's.

paypal accept's credit
But i wouldnt wanna run a bXi series on R's. that amp will prolly overheat on it (no joke) the only good/great results i see on R's is on high end amps.

So kickers are pretty good? I know their amps are good from what I have been told but I didnt know thier subs were.
XBlazer01

kickers have the ability to get loud.
Just gotta treat em right. The suspension tends to kinda sag and just mess up after hard play.
I had 6 comp C12's and aws far from happy and i fed em like 1400 watts total.
Efficiency ratings arent to high on em either. So take those factors into effect but they are good
