two words. solo-x. jon hates them but i absolutely adore them. although you'd prolly have to get 2 2500zx's to hook up to each voice coil, but that's beside the point.

I thought you guys were just kidding about the suspension thing, why would kickers make your suspension lag? Also what do you mean effeciency of kickers? If you have a choice which of the following would you choose:

1. Kicker Subs
2. MTX Subs
3. Rockford Subs

Kickers... ONLY CVX
MTX.....Only 9500 series
Rockford...... just no.. Unless its T2 or something

Suspension on the woofer sags and causes problems like rubbing voice coils and all. it's technical stuff.

Efficiency is basically. How well the woofer can use the power it is given. Like if you were to run 100 watts on a kicker... it will suck badly but a more efficient woofer will take that power and use it to its full potential.

So basically how well it can use the power it's given. ability to get loud on low wattage

kicker, hands down. that's not a question. but you have to get the right kickers. an L7 or solo-x is the only kicker sub i'd own. rockford is better than mtx, imo. the power t2's are way better than anything mtx has to offer, (besides the jackhammer).

I really hope thats a joke.

Do i need to go get the pics of the toasted L7's? Square subs suck balls straight up.

Ok well I am conviced, I think I am going to buy a good pair of kicker subs. Could you guys now help me pick out a good pair of kicker subs that are nice but also arnt harshly expensive lol. Also arnt DVX subs better then CVX because they are dual coned...meaning its like double the sub.
XBlazer01

i think you mean DVC (dual voice coil) the CVX is a model of the woofer

it doesnt determine that its better its more of a better wiring option to have

They make subs that are cvr and cvx from what I have seen so far, you say cvx is better...is it just because that sole reason that it is wired better? WHats the real difference between the two?

CVR <CVX

the CVX is basically an L7 in a circle shape which is good cause the suspension isnt as bad on it
mikeywaynebygod

exactly. the rms and max wattages on the L7 and cvx are exactly the same. and they're made of the same substance and have the solokon.

the problem is, the cvx and the l7 are considerably more expensive than the cvr or the l5...... if you arent planning on any competitions, the cvr's or the L5's have an excellent sound...... If you put the right amount of air behind the cvrs, the 10's will move your hair..... if its just for personal pleasure and to get a bit show-offy (is that a word) every once in a while, buy the CVR's...... if you want to do competitions, go with the cvx or L7..... I have two of the CVR's in my blazer and they put out a hell of a lot of good quality sound.... waaaaaayyyy better than fosgates...... as for them not being good subs, there is a kicker dealer in my hometown who decked out a 95 2-door blazer with 15 inch cvrs..... and did some fine tuning, custom competition stuff.... the plaque in his shop says he hit a 160 in a competition...... so, dont underestimate them..... not even 3 weeks ago xblazer and mikeywayne convinced me to replace my fosgates with CVR's..... ive loved them ever since...lol oh... i liked the subs too....

hahaha..... but seriously.... dont waste the money on the fosgates, you can get much better for the same price.... the reason I had em was I installed two 10" punch stage II's for a guy and a 500W amp...... after a few months he decided he didnt want his brand new stuff anymore... he just wanted some quick cash so I got it all off of him for $125...lol kind of a ripoff, but hey, he was dumb enough to sell em that cheap so I bought em...lol hell of a deal for $125

So it looks like I will be going with some kind of kicker amp and kicker subs. I want like 400-600 rms subs with 3/4 of what they can handle going through them. Can you guys find a system that will work (ohms wise). I am still a bit scetchy on what I need to be looking for ohms wise so I dont blow and amp or sub. Maybe two kicker 500 watt rms cvr subs and a 1000 wat rms amp. Can anyone help me find the items I need that matches somthing like that?

Does it matter what box I go with. If I go with 2 kicker subs, does it matter what dimension size box I need to go with so it runs at the right frequencies or what ever. What do you guys mean when you say you tunned it for 32 hertz or what ever? Is that just the size area it has inside the box?

CVR's give em a big ported box. CVX i could see 2.2-3cuft doing well.

ported of course

Ok so I will be going with 2 kicker 2 ohm 12" cvx's now onto amps. A guy at CC said just buy a mono kicker amp and run the subs parallel. So if I buy an amp that is like 1250w x 1 ohm will this work with the subs I want to get or are the ohms off and I will end up blowing my subs.
