New amp

So I got my new amp hooked up yesterday- 2000 Lanzar Vibe 266. and it does ok but i have to crank the volume to where my door speaker practically distort to get some really loud bass. Right now i have them wired to 4 ohms series and I have them bridged on the amp and my amp is 2ohm stable. I was wondering if there was anyway i could make them louder.

My gains are all up- could it maybe be somethin with my after market head unit??

It could be with your headunit.  Check to see if you have seperate subwoofer control on the hu itself.  what kind of subs are they, and are they single or dual voice coil.  4 or 2 ohm?

Also make sure you have the amp on LPF setting (Low Pass Filter) that way it's only bass going to your subs.

What kind of Head unit do you have?

How many volts are the preouts? Are they for subwoofers?

I have a sony headunit with a subwoofer output and my sub is at +10 on my HU and my subs are DVC dual 4ohms bridged on a 2000 watt lanzar vibe amp. And for my LPF and stuff its set to full. is this ok?

Theres a couple of things that I would check for.  Make sure all of your connections are solid and that both magnets(DVC) have power feeding to them. Set everything to 0 and start from there. Crossover needs to be set to LPF. Make sure the amp has a little gain.
 I have a Sony head unit, and what I did was set the "Loudness" on, the sound pre-set to "Explod", the bass neg, and the treble up on the mids/highs. If it has the option for DSO, set it to 3.

On your amp it should have LPF, HPF, FULL.... Set the marker to LPF. On the LPF setting you will get only bass through your sub.

drop it down to two ohms and it will make a big differnce. i had a kicker solo-baric and had the same problem till i dropped it to two ohms.         less ohms= more power to the subs. it wont hurt your sub and your amp will hold up to it fine

Birdge them at 2??? my amp is 2 ohm stable but not bridged wil thi still be ok??

Its not possible to have 2 4ohm DVC subs and have both of them bridged to the amp and have a total load of 2 ohms.  It would be either 1 or 4.  Since your amp has a minimum impeadence load of 2 ohms then you cant bridge it or wire it lower than 2 ohms.

if your amp says it willl run 2 ohms it can hold up on one ohm, some people will say not to do it but i have ran it like that and didnt have any problems, my system i have now is ran at .5 ohms and my amp is only supposed to handle 1 ohm and it handles it fine.  and it deally make a difference.

crank the bass boost, the gain, put everything up to +10 and wait for the magic smoke.
 
but really, having everything cranked up is not good......especially the gain. I doubt your going to get the volume you want with that amp.

i agree with blazinloud, but not with blznlowxtreme.  Lanzar isn't the greatest brand and will probably not hold up under 2 ohms for a long time.  if your looking to blow this amp after maybe 6 mo then sure go ahead and do it.

what? blznlowextreme is totally wrong.......just cause it can run at 2 ohms does not mean it can be ran at 1 ohm......usually it voids warranty, and creates more problems........alot of amps will not run at all with an ohm load lower than its rated for.

Wow, i just came upon this thread again.  blznlowextreme, you are giving seriously incorrect and damaging advice.  If an amp states that it is 2 ohm stable, then that is what the manufacturer states is the lowest safe impedance level, and running it below that impedance can and usually does lead to destroying the amp.  Some higher end companies have amps that are stable below 1 ohm, but def not in this case.  In fact, most amps will go into protect if dropped below a certain impedance level.

That amp is not 2 ohms stable when bridged, only in stereo. 

Rcarp, Unhook everything.  Start over again.  First off, where is the amp grounded at?  Once you have a good ground, then go forward.  If you need a location for your ground, PM me.   I would wire your subs to 4 ohms bridged. Then go about setting your amplifier

I agree with everything that hillbilly says.  The most your going to get with that amp is wired at 4 ohms bridged.  sometimes thats the way it has to work
