So when are they gonna bring back the new K5?

No one knows for sure now, most people have not even heard about it yet. The idea was formulated for a comeback in 2001 and a concept vehicle was built:

The idea was scrapped shortly after and then revived with the release of the new Tahoe/Suburban body style. A concept vehicle has not yet been built on the new platform.

Euro, that's cool that you found that-didn't even know it existed (even if in concept form that got brushed aside).

First post looks like a shameless plug for their site though...

And considering that I do not see them on our new vendor's list, this violates our sites policies on advertisements.

Why bring back the new K5?  The old K5s haven't left yet.

It actually was an interesting subject to bring up, even if it was a plug.  I doubt MotionParts ever knew that there was a K5 concept vehicle

I have also found a concept called the "Shark Edition Blazer Convertible" that was introduced in 1999 that was the original plan for bringing back K5. A team of GM architects took the challenge of creating a open back SUV like the K5 but on the S10 Chassis.  The concept was built, but safety concerns arose about the Blazer, being already rollover prone, that because it had a shorter top in the shark form, it would weaken the cab's ability to absorb crushing force from rollovers. The concept team began working on a way to strengthen the cab, but the only way to build it to withstand crush was to add roll cages to the frame design. Roll cages were out of the question, so that idea was also scrapped.  I did manage to find pictures of the concept vehicle though:

The rebirth of the K5 will most likely depend on Ford's release of the reborn Bronco and the successfulness of a two door SUV in today's economy.

Euro, all I see is "CONCEPTCAR.EE" in a gray box.  Do they link to something else?

I found an article and a few other pics of the K5 Blazer. I must say that I like it.

Ya, from the front doors back looks like a squished Avalanche.  People got (and get) in and out of the old K5's just fine with two doors, leave it alone!  And the removable top needs to come down to the same body line extending from the headlights.

It ain't a K5 unless it's a solid axle up front, eh.

I got to the pictures when I clicked on the links from my email notification, however when I got in here they were as described above.  Probably a redirected link type deal.

It's still not a K5 replacement, unless my eyes deceive me and that really is fullsize...although I do like the grille treatment.  The center bar looks a little taller and has a little bit more 3-D than what comes on S10's now.  That roof rack is a joke...
