Yep, we finally upgraded to a new computer. We bought a Toshiba SatelliteA135-S4527 notebook with Windows Vista an pentium dual core technology. So far I like it. It not gonna be my "daily driver" as far as computers go, I still have my own XP desktop that I usually surf on. Anyone here have Windows Vista?  If you do, have you had any problems with it?

Congrats on the new laptop, Toshiba laptops have treated me well over the years.  As for Vista, I will not but it until SP2 comes out for it, as I had beta versions of it, and even retail copy and it was causing nothing but problems.  Not enough hardware and software support is out there.

Good Luck!

I have a Toshiba Satellite M45, but it's about a year old and it only has XP. I've heard some not-so-good things about Vista...I think I'll wait a few years before I buy it, simply due to the fact that I bought Windows ME as soon as it came out and had all sorts of problems with it. I'm somewhat wary of buying a new operating system in the first 12 months after it is released....Microsoft tends to need a little time to work out all the kinks when I product is released for use into the real world.

Windows Vista is a very good OS.  The only problem Ive heard is some(acctually most) of the old programs dont work and it takes a lot of hardware to run it.  I hope you have no less than 2 GBs of RAM.  When I get it I will run no less than 4GBs.

Dont just putt off buying Vista because you bought Me when it first came out. Microsoft learned their leason with ME.  Other than the Hardware issues I havent heard anything bad about Vista except from the people that hate Microsft because they are billion dollar company.

The only problem I had with Vista, was the manufacturer of my motherboard chipset (nvidia) refused to make Vista drivers for it to work properly with my ATI video card (conveniently, it was ONLY ATI cards that had the problem...)

I'm running Vista (different motherboard now, so I can use BOTH cores of my CPU) with only 1 gig of ram, and it's running great! my performance index is 4.5 (memory being the 4.5, surprise surprise, lol)

With the exception of that one motherboard issue, I haven't had a single problem with Vista! All my programs run so far... (GO DOSBOX! long live legacy gaming!)

I have only ran into two problems so far.
#1- no outlook express on vista
#2-Toshiba customer service referred my to MS about the problem and then Microsoft referred me back to Toshiba, Toshiba was stumped. So I called MS and asked to speak to Bill Gates because his company is run by a bunch of DA's.
I just gave up trying to get my E-mail. I'll just use my XP for that.

I never noticed that... I don't use Outlook Express, lol...

Did you try checking the microsoft site to see if you could download it?

Edit: After looking at the Windows Mail application in Vista, it's pretty much the same as outlook express... a little different appearance, and some settings tabs are in different places, but pretty much the same...
