yeah an SUV that hits 60 in 5.3 seconds

That concept is a relatively outdated idea though... 2002.

I think that's before the SS Trailblazer came out, they probably opted for the V8 option instead...

I dunno, I don't like how Chevy is throwing SS badging on everything they make, well almost everything. That used to be reserved for the priviledged few.

But at least the SS versions of the vehicles (with the exception of the Cobalt SS) get more power than their regular bretheren (though, not sure what they're gonna do now that the VortecMAX 6.0 makes more power than the SS 6.0, lol.)

Why with the exception of the Cobalt SS??

I don't know how you guys feel about Wikipedia as a source of info, but drperry may be referring to the non-supercharged SS Cobalt as discussed here.  For my money though, I'd rather buy a Saturn Ion Redline as they are under-rated IMO.  Plus the wing isn't so huge.  Why did Chevy put a wing on a front-wheel drive car from the factory anyway, nevermind such a big one?  Ugh, I digress...

I think it may have been an appeal to the ricer community....

Triple Black hit the nail on the head, the non-supercharged SS, gets the 2.4L which is an option on all other trim levels of the Cobalt.

As for the wing... At high speeds it'll stop the arse end of the car from spinning around freely, when reefing on the car in a corner... Downforce = Traction even if it looks like rice, it still has SOME function... I mean, us Blazer drivers need something to hook the tow rope on to in the winter time, right?
