Hello...i'm new too Blazer's, and never had a 4.3L vortec, nor a 4-wheel drive so i dont know for sure what to expect,  but...
I just bought a 1999 Chevy Blazer LS 4x4 w/4.3 vortec and push-button 4-wheel drive, 156k miles  !, $4999 . Have had it about two months, and i got's ?'s.   I have replaced both front door speakers, (they were blown ) both rear passenger door speakers need replaced (one does not work), and are those tweeters in the front deck? The radio may be wired wrong, as the fader does not work.
I replaced the battery after the first week, but the volt meter in-dash flutters when driving the truck @ around 14 volts, but goes steady when not driving, around 14 volts (13.4-.6v) ?
The transmission seem's inconsistant.    Some times it slam's into 2nd gear hard enough that it bark's a rear wheel, and when it starts doing this, it's near impossible too keep it from it.   Most of the time though it's just a good solid shift. Second to third most always seem's right, and so does third to final gear. there has been a few times though when i think i felt a slip or shudder around the 35 mph range on very light acceleration.
The Engine seem's solid but lacks power on accel. and what it does have seem's to come in 'stage's'. First off at low rpms the response is quick, but weak from say around 700 to 1500 rpm  a little better from there on up, and seem's to start pulling good after it gets to around 3500 rpm. thing is i dont run it up that high very often, i did one time testing it out, and at about 90-95 mph. it seemed to just shut down a brief instant, i let off the gas, and it ran normally the rest of the way home.     Also after i had it about two weeks, the intake manifold started squirting coolant  out the front left corner and i had to put a manifold gasket kit in...hello....i think it had been plugged up with some stop leak stuff, but what was all that 'chalky" stuff built up in the rear ports?  I didnt re-fill with Dex-Cool, but used regular Prestone.
I intend to run Castor oil and add Dura-lube because i have had pretty good luck with these.
Any info. advice, fore-warning's or Head's up any of you can give me, i would appreciate, including what is the general opinion of this truck? is it worth fixing and keeping?

                                                                                              thank's
