Was offered some 16" rims . Is it worth it to pick em up and do a lift put some bigger tires on? I think they look cool as hell jacked up. But is it going to get real expensive. I love my truck. But can''t afford to get to crazy???? What to do?? Any pro''s advice would be hugely appreciated. Thanks

I would have loved to get some 16s or better when I was getting rims/tires, but I didn''t have the funds to get both, and I was impatient...so I bought rims then tires, and kept the 15s
All my lifting and what not cost me just under $200. 2'''' is real easy to get with these trucks, and then a body lift gets you the extra boost for big tires.
WAIT.
What do you drive?

I would do the lifts myself providing they not be to big a deal. Are kits the way to go there?

It''s a 2 door 4x4. I guess its an s-blazer

Haha sorry yea you have an s-series. I thought I ready 89.
You can get 2'''' of lift out of installing shackles bought from a number of different places for ~$60, then you crank up your torsion bars in the front. Run a search on here for torsion bar/t bar/shackles and you''ll get all the info you could ever want. There are kits available but I think that they''re entirely too expensive for the advantage they give you.
As for tire size, 16s do make it trickier (and expensive) to find A/T or M/T tires for, and going bigger gets even harder. You can go 30x9.5 without lift, 31x10.50 with 2'''', 32/33s and up just start to cause problems, so know what you''re getting into and what you want to do with the truck.
Here is a good page to start on

You just gotta think about what you want to do with the truck. Are you going more for looks with the occasional offroad trip? Will you never go offroad?
Once you get that, then you can plan what you need to do to fit the 16s and bigger tires.

It will offroad and even more often if were done up, and if a guy was to do it I think I''d have to do the big lift cause I''m not interested in wearing parts out premature going with the t-bar crank and shackless in the back.Sounds like more headache in the end. I have no issues with a body lift whatsoever but after the spacers for the 16" rims and with a 2" body lift I think The best you could get on are 31"s. I think I''d like 32''s but mabey 31''s would do.I''m kinda indecisive.

Yea..there''s a real good thread about tire size on here somewhere...but basically..why go for the 32 over the 31? The 32 only gives you .5'''' more clearance... If you like the 32x11.50s, you could always just try to find a 31x11.50...give you the width and size you want, without the headache of 32s.
And the key to not wearing out parts is just to keep an eye on ''em. You see the wear and tear and the signs of problems..just stay on top of it!

Be carefull with the torison bar crank!
Yea it cranks the truck up, but the sideeffects are far worse in the long run.
Increased wear on suspension components, and once you crank your torsion bars to a certain point, alignment can no longer be done. Which means youll be burning through tires very quickly!
since yours is a 99, check to see if the bars are sagging at all, My right side was sagging when I lifted mine, and I had to crank it to the max to fit my 31s now MY truck can not be aligned.
Just a fair warning, just becase its free and easy doesnt mean its the best way to go.

Ya know that''s what''s interesting about my truck...I went up the 1.5'''' and my alignment was still in spec. I was concerned about maxing out the alignment and what not...but yea...
Definitely weigh the options

MY right side bar was sagging when I decided to lift it, so pretty much my right side is cranked to the max just to level it out with the left side.
My front tires look like this \ | and it pulls hard right!

That would just make the tire more negative lol

id much rather crank torsion bars then do neutral drops, lol. just teasin.
seriously, don''t do neutral drops, lol.

Only if you like replacing u joints trannies and driveshafts...then by all means do nuetral drops! but it has to be around 4 - 5k rpm! or it dosnt count!
