Hello all. I just bought a 2000 zr2 blazer, Ive wanted a blazer for a few years and just sold my rice burner to get one. I have a few questions, When i try to put the pedal to the floor my blazer is hesitating like it doesnt want to go for a second and then picks up speed slowly... Ived done some forum searching and found someone with the same problem and it ended up being the cat converter... Does that seem right? Another thing is that its getting HORRIBLE gas milage, I filled it up and drove 86 miles and it burned a half a tank. If the cat is the problem would taking it out completly and running straight pipe to a flowmaster hurt my motor? One last thing the plug where you plug in the scanner to read the error codes doesnt read when you plug a scanner into the plug... Is there a fuse or anything that would stop the plug from working? Well guys Id appreciate any suggestions or any help that you guys could give me!

Welcome! Couple of guys here have ZR2's...lucky son-of-a-biscuits! Glad you crossed over from the dark side. As you've probably already seen from your searching, there are specific sections for the questions you've asked. You'll most likely have more luck getting an answer if you post there (General Tech, Headers/Intake/Exhaust, etc.)
Glad to have ya, and feel free to post up some pics when you have a chance!

Welcome to the forum. How many miles are on the Blazer? There are a lot of things that could be done to increase/tune up to original spec gas mileage. First of all, if the blazer has more than 60k-80k it most likely needs a tune-up. You can find more info on a tune-up by using the search function above. But just to give you an idea it would involve sparkplugs (AcDelco Platinums work the best, are trucks are picky), plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, clean out/off the EGR valve, IAC valve, and MAF sensor. Check the tire pressure. You may want to change the differential fluids too, it would allow them to spinner with less resistance. Other than that it could be a CAT but unlikely, if it is throwing a code (ie. the SES light is on) then it would probably be an O2 sensor or the MAF is gunked up. Hope this helps some. Welcome again and lets see some pics eventually.

The DLC (diagnostic link connector) is powered on the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. Check the fuse in the interior fuse box off the driver's side end of the dash. Other than that, I too recommend doing a simple tune up as mentioned above and replacing your filters.

Welcome to the world of Blazers! Your question above brings up one of my pet peeves (as several members know

). If you drive on the roads in the U.S. you have to have a catalytic converter on any vehicle made after 1976. Your state may or may not require it, but the Feds do. Please leave it on.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, It ended up being the cat. I went and bought new plugs and wires today as well. I ordered some 22's today and one to throw on the back... I know big rims on a four wheel drive isnt normal but it should look pretty clean. Only reason i got four wheel drive is for the snow and winter. Thanks for the help with the connector plug and letting me know where it is. This site is super helpful!!!!
