Poison Ivy SUCKS!!

Yup, as the title states, I hate this stuff!  I was helping the wife weed the flower beds (1st mistake) Friday.  By Saturday afternoon, my eye is almost swollen shut, my other one is itching like crazy and I've got it up one arm!  Man this stinks.  And I have to wait until tomorrow to go to the doctors! 

Thing that pisses me off most about it is that the leaves didn't look like typical poison ivy.  It wasn't until I went back out this morning and actually found what I had pulled out that I was able to recognize it.  ERRG!

I've never seen or touched poison ivy before, so I don't know how it feels... but I've got a good imagination, lol.
 
You should be able to get some over the couter stuff for it, though...

Problem with the OTC stuff is that you don't want to put it anywhere near your eyes...  That and the good OTC stuff is actually in the Pharmacy and there wasn't a single Pharmacy open when we were in town earlier today (around 3PM).  AAAHHHAA!!  I'm just going to cut my skin off!!

I'll get a shot from the doctor tomorrow as soon as they can fit me in, but I don't think i'm going to work until this crap clears up from my eyes and face...  It's really compromising my vision from my left eye.

Hopefully it all gets cleared up soon!

I would suggest the usual.....scrubbing it to death with soap....and it is very hard to tell what's poison ivy this early with out looking at it too hard......bummer kyle....I am one of those lucky people that has come in contact with it and didn't have any issues....but...I also strive to not come in contact with it...and never touch my clothes when I remove them especialy if I know I've been in it.....but the eye's are a scarey thing kyle....it's super bad to have it there...hope you survive the itch to get to the doctors tomorrow....

i went to the doctor about 8 years ago and got a shot for poison ivy and i have NEVER had it since, and i used to get it at least a few times a year.  It REALLY sucks when you get it on your balls!

I would have to say that would really suck. I have had it a couple times and had to get shots for it. I know having it around the eye sucks since I had it once about 10years ago and had to wear an eye patch for a while. Hope you get better.

I'm one of those unfortunate people that is severely allergic to everything I come in contact with. A bee sting almost paralized me when I was 8, if I even think about eating or TOUCHING something with vinegar in it I break out in hives (and if I actually do touch it or eat it I come close to dying)....I've never touched poison ivy and, not surprisingly, have no desire to in the near future!

I'm really bad with poison ivy too... Its not that it breaks out everywhere or is really painful, it just will not go away. In fact I still have itchy bumps on my ankle from deer huniting in December.
 
Poison oak is a different story, I can roll in it like a dog and it will not affect me at all.

I didn't even know they had shots for it, I always just toughed it out and made everyone else as miserable as myself. All those plants make me wanna peel my skin off and throw it in the washer in the hopes it'll stop.

Ug, i dont envy you right now. Last time i touched the stuff i just had to grin and bear it. What helped a little was taking some rubbing alcohol and pouring that on it (though i would NOT recommend doing that anywhere near your eyes) and then putting aloe gel on it. Seemed to get the crap out and then cooled it so it didnt sting so darn much.

Well, I've been on 2 10mg pills of Prednisone 3 times a day since Monday and 1 pill of Zertec twice a day and this stuff has been messing with me bad.  The Prednisone makes me hypersensetive and the Zertec makes me groggy...  So my reaction times are dulled as are my movements, but my mind is in overdrive...  I'm glad my employer is understanding...  I don't think I'll be going to work until Thursday when I'll be down to 1 pill of Prednisone twice a day to keep me alittle more level headed.
