Within the next 15 months I will be adding a strain to my electrical system and I'm wondering if my blazer can handle it.

What I have
XM Radio
Car Charger for my flashlight

What I plan to add:
Whelen 90watt Hide-a-way strobes
Whelen dual dash strobe
SHO-ME rear LED sticks (red/red)
Carson Siren/Speaker
Yaesu HAM radio
Radio Shack Scanner
Fog Lights

Will I need to upgrade my electrical system?

I think you will be fine.......the 'big 3' might help.....try a search.

its upgrading the wiring to a thicker wire. easy, and worth it imo.

you might have some voltage drop, shouldnt be too serious......you should see some of the amplifiers ppl run on these stock electrical systems

what was Jon running, something like 3200rms on the stock alty.......droppin to 9 volts and still held, till his amp took a crap.

Yea, I would say so. You might be able to get away by just doing "the big 3" but if your lights throb or flicker you may want to upgrade your alternator to somthing a little larger.

thanks for the replies, i know it will be a while but id rather upgrade my electrical system now, then later when I'll have to drop lots of $$ at once

I suppose i could dump the dash strobes for LEDs to drop the power usage by a fair amount

could always just have ur alt rebuilt to.....but then again its a small case alty so heat buildup could be an issue.

You can buy a new chrome alternator - 140 amps.  I think I will buy one in the near future.

I haven't had an issue with mine so far... The voltage when I have all my lights on drops to... 14... According to the volt meter...
You'll be fine on the stock setup... The 'Big 3' is always a good idea, even if that's the only mod you do to the electrical system...

I'm not sure of the wattage/amperage on the stuff you have there, but I'm probably a wee bit higher...

If I remember right, my driving lights total 310 watts... It's either 310, or 400.
My fogs total 220 watts.

When moving, even with my stereo cranked, the voltage stays above 14.
It might've dipped below 14 when I had the stereo cranked while stopped, with all my lights on... can't remember for sure anymore...

A deep cycle dry cell battery is always a good choice. Just remeber if you upgrade the alty you should run a new wire from it (bigger).
