For the few members in BC, what's your thoughts on having to start pre paying for all your gas in a few days?

I know having to do that in the states sucks, but it prevents gas theft really well!!!

So...  Like pre-pay directly before you pump?  Not a bad idea.  If they start wanting money way ahead, to heck with that!  I always pay with a credit card so technically, I pre-pay everytime I fill up.

I know you said for fellow BC'ers but I figured I'd add something.  It is quite convenient, despite taking away the human interaction part.  The only thing I don't like about pre-paying is if you decide to fill up and you don't have an exact number to tell them (gallons or dollars), so what then?  Do you get a refund if you told them $30 and you only pumped $28?  Or do they have to start a whole new transaction if you didn't pump enough?  Put in 18 gallons and it can still take more?  I like the pay at the pumps where you swipe your card right at the pump.  I also enjoy the low gas prices in NJ but hate having someone else pump it.

I dunno how many of you guys' gas stations ever limit per fill amounts, but we've got a few stations around here in NC that will auto shut off at 75 dollars.  One annoying low limit at a BP was 50 bucks..but pretty much anyone with an SUV stopped going there.

Theres nothing worse than going to fill up my Rover that needs about 78 dollars or so to fill up, and I have to reswipe for 3-5 extra bucks of gas.

Pre-paying gets annoying.

The limits are stupid.  They already have your card, just let me pump what I need to pump!  Thankfully, I don't think there are any limits locally that are under $100.

never ran into a limit fill yet, charge $100 and only takes $80 to fill, only get charged $80. not that my jimmy takes that much to fill. usually between $50-$55 to fill

Yea thats why that one station capping at $50 was so wild..pretty much every sedan now has a 'touring' gas tank that gets 18 gals..50+ dolla

At night I can uinderstand, all the time is hella homosexual IMO.  So yes you have to pay in advance before you can pump gas.  So basically pay, pump gas, go back in either pay more or get a refund.  Any ideas on how I can store large amounts of fuel here at home?

All of our stations are like that

I usually just give a 50...pump till its full then go get my change

If you dont pump 50 they give you the remaining back...

It prevents a lot of drive-offs and really walking the extra 20 feet wont kill yea!

The limits n Credit Card transactions I think are the CC companies.

I always pay with my AMEX at the pump so much more convenient.  So this wouldnt affect me at all.  I could see where it would be a PITA walking in pumping walking back in.  But look at it from the Business owners point of view.  It prevents drive offs.  I worked at a popular busy gas station once, we had roughly 1k a month in drive offs.

Maybe if you dont already get a Credit Card or debit card.  I dont know how it is in Canada but they are easy to get here.

Nah the limits are pump based.  I've used multiple cards, Visa debit, Visa Credit, Discover..etc.   Haha if I had the cash to pre pay..I'd love to walk a few feet and do that..avoids the limit cut off if you fully pre-pay in cash above the cut off amount.

I could understand if gas was being stolen all the time.  I'm not going to say it doesn't happen, but it's very rare.  Not all places you can pay at the pump.  Also I have to have an extra card swipped on gas purchases for my (BC)AAA.

I just thought it was because all companies are different.  I know Visa, Discover, MC are something like 50 or 75 and AMEX is 75 or 100.  Not a issue for me, thank god.

So this is the new law in B.C. as of Feb 1st (also know as Grants' Law).  Grant was a local kid who ran out and stood in front of a car that wasn't going to pay for their gas. Grant was dragged for several miles before he died.

The first time I experienced a pre-pay station was 20 years ago in California and I thought it was stupid then, but now it makes a lot of sense.

I have no problem pre-paying for gas. Most pumps are already set up for quick pay, credit card or debit card. If it saves one life, it's worth it. I can put up with a minor inconvenience.

I do have a problem with a low limit per fill. If I fill up my full size blazer and my boat at the same pump I could hit $250.00 or more.

No doubt.  I don't know if any stations put caps around here as I rarely go over $50 on any of my vehicles.  But I always pay with a card so the pre pay thing never bothered me.

I have never run into a fill limit problem in any of the vehicles I have owned (gas tanks ranging from 1-18gallons) I never let the blazer get too low, and I put a decent sized dent in it off roading so its probably a 17 gallon tank now (dont worry its still safe, had the shop look at it and I have looked at it and everything seems fine). The only problem I have ever experienced with that limit is filling up my dad's 32 gallon suburban gas tank, or the 30 gallon boat gas tank (or worse both at the same time).

I have no problem pre paying, as I usually do with the credit card, unless I am at a gas station that gives me a discount to use cash or check (used to have one next to my highschool, now I get a walmart gift card and get 3cents off a gallon at their station and have to go inside to get the discount).
