so, I think I have found a solution to the fighting problems we have in all of the threads.... From now on, I am going to only offer advice and factual information where needed... "I WILL NOT state my opinion in a thread where it is not asked for". . . . Now lets see how many people will join me in this idea and try to make blazerforum a more user friendly place.....

If you will go along with this plan and "WILL NOT STATE OFFENSIVE OPINIONS UNLESS ASKED FOR THEM" then reply to this and let me know im not the only one....

I totaly agree this is a good idea but opinions are good in some points. Like products (IE subs) it is nice to have opinions.

I have been steering clear of opinons. i merely state facts now but recently I've seen personal attacks at me with peoples opinions so i state stronger facts to shine the light lol

But idk if stopping your opinion is a good idea aaron. Opinions ftw

lol but these "fights" that are going on here. Bah thats a common thing on forums. i mean hell ROE check that out once and you'll see lol. It's just a strong deep discussion that happens. But some people go to far. I try to stay out of em but yea i admit i got into it on the 4wd or 2wd thread BUT after i had someone degrade what i have and am trying to do with something i paid for with my money

I know what ur sayin, cuz i've gotten pissed so many times over my tires...lol

well, then lets break it down even more..... if a person has to ask themselves "I wonder if this will offend people?" before posting... then they probably shouldn't...lol so let just try to eliminate offensive opinions.

example: "lowriders a crap, you might as well jump off a cliff"
Less offensive: " thats a nice looking truck. However, I don't think i'm gonna lower mine."

Rewording is a good idea but then people could misconstru(sp?) as kinda cockyness. I'm not tryin to give ya a hard time but after chillen on ROE for awhile I know how people can take things lol.

But yea rewording or just not saying the rude things in general would be better.

When someone tells me i should get some POS car over lowering my truck yea that pisses me off. And thats when i went off.

I dont sit here and say Lifting sucks (which is not my opinion at all I like lifted trucks too) so i dont think i should have someone saying I'm wasting my cash and time on lowering my blazer

yea... i know exactly how u feel... I had a little explosion in a tire forum.... people don't like to be told that they are pretty much stupid after they drop large amounts of cash on something..... I just think everyone could stand to be a little more considerate....

The administrators are working to better this situation. We are understaffed at the moment. Believe me when I tell everyone that this behaviour will NOT continue.

BF.com holds a high ideal for the members and what is and isn't allowed to go on in here. Things will be rectified shortly and offending members will be spoken with.

I like the premise behind this thread! I would never say to not express your opinion, but some prior scrutiny would go a long ways in helping to ward off these e-fights.

While our opinions can be both good and bad, it takes discretion and consideration of others when we display those opinions. Much of this gets lost in faceless forums.

The same is true for reactions to someone else's opinion or comment. To just go flying off the handle is NOT the appropriate way to deal with the situation for ANYONE and in the end reflects poorly on the forum as a whole.

#1 thing I always try to remember is to not take things personally. Because of our diversity, someone is bound to have a differing opinion. It doesn't mean that we have to be rude or berating to others.

Have I been pissed off before? Sure. Do I jump right on and type the first thing that comes to my mind? NO! I walk away. Go play a round or ten of CS:S. Clean the garage. Play with my son. Whatever to take my mind off of it. Only after I have forgotten about it do I even consider a response.

Good topic a_tack.
I love cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats etc... I do whatever I want with my vehicles and I respect other people for having their own ideas. The reason that I have stayed with Blazer Forum is because it is a "general" forum and I have learned a lot from other people and their ideas and experience.
I like to be able to help people to help themselves. If I can post something that helps someone solve their problem, I feel good. If I post information that is not accurate and someone corrects me, I appreciate learning something new.
When I see a post that I see as offensive, I ignore it and move on.

When I recieve a pm accusing me of being a "know it all", I get offended!

I'm on this site because it makes me think. I don't wish to do nothing but watch TV and have my brain turn to mush.

My mother told me "if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all". I try to live that way.

Ok, I feel better now.

well I think that most people who post a lot...or at least are frequent posters....are pretty good at not being mean..I guess because I mainly stick to the off topic section I don't notice a lot of things...like others have stated.....if I don't have anything nice to say...then I don't post it...and I don't get offended easily...most people I talk to have nothing but nice things to say...but then again..there's a reason I talk to those people...

you so kick butt!! such a smart ass..

Darn, all I have are opinions. I'm not a mechanic or even good with tools. I don't mind trying to fix things. But I can't give much car advice, only opinions.

Maybe everyone can give ol' Bocomo a free pass as long as my opinion isn't too mean or vicious.

I guess that is my opinion on this topic. Wait, is this a thread about opinions on opinions???

I think the bottom line is that a_tack was trying to help people realize there have been some pretty rude comments made in here lately. Part of what we take pride in with BF.com is NOT being like other forums that are basically a free-for-all on language, attacking other members and just plain rudeness. I personally like the site for the fact that it is a family-oriented site and we have a core group of members that are mature and understand how to treat others with respect while still stating their opinions in a positive and non-attacking manner.

I thank all of you that are here because of that, and I wanted to extend my personal apologies to everyone that things have lately been out of hand. We are working to put things back to how they used to be so we can keep the peace and be one big happy family again.

I think this is a great site. While I'm not a "gearhead" nor an off-roader, I do drive a Blazer and need help with what is probably simple for others. I have always found this site (and it's members to be very helpful). I spend some time on fan sites for sports teams, this doesn't compare to the rudeness and poor communication (and it is a pay site!).

We all have good days and bad days. I say things face-to-face that I wish I hadn't, not very often, but it does happen. When I think someone is being a jerk on an internet board I try to do what Kyle suggested; take a break.

My main contribution will generally be "stupid humor", at best.

IMO the moderators and administrators do a great job. For most of them, this isn't their "job". I would assume most of you are doing this as a "hobby". Regardless of job or hobby I think this site is being ran very well. Thanks to all!

Thanks for the cudos Bob!

Yeah, all of us Mods/Admins are doing so voluntarily. It is a very rewarding position when things are going good and people are getting the help they require and everyone is getting along. It gets very frustrating when the bickering starts. It will happen, but we all need to try to do our part to defuse a situation before it turns into an a-bomb! LOL

Another day like yesterday and I might get fired for too much internet activity while at work! HAHA!

When I disagree with what someone posts, I always tell them something like: I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree or something along those lines. I find it easier to say hey I get what your trying to say, but heres what I think, instead of attacking the other person. I have never been attacked by anyone on BF.com, and I have disagreed with many. So, I think if everyone just respects the other persons opinion and lets them know that they do respect their right to express their opinion that there may be less attacking going on and alot more respect and getting along hapening. Basically, this is the USA, everyone in this country has the right to express themselves and form their own opinion. You also have the right to disagree with someones opinion. So just be respectful of the other persons opinion, it is their right to have it. If you disagree with their opinion then fine, but if you can't be nice and respecful in your disagreement then you should not even open your mouth. Think about it first, do as Kyle stated and walk away. I really enjoy this forum, and I see that alot of other people do too, and it would be a shame to lose some dedicated, respectful people because they were being bashed by other members. So let's all try to be a little more respectful toward each other. Respect is contagious, just like smiles, so let's spread the fever.
