will a low temp actually do anything? and which one would be better a 180 or 160 degree?

Need to know more about your truck. Year for one...
Anyway, a 160*F t-stat is much too low for the newer (96+) Blazers as the PCM doesn't induce closed loop status until after the engine has gone over 168*F. So your mileage would suffer.
A 180*F stat could be used, but I doubt you will see any benefit other than lower temps. Winter time running with a 180*F may result in slower heat response from the HVAC system.

its an 01 LS 2DR 4x4. yeah i thought the 160 would be two low and the 180 isnt much of a diff. well thanks for the reply
