First off its a 98 blazer 4.3 with the edi setup. Ok i think i may have figured out my one issue BUT since i think my distributor gear and cam gear slipped teeth whats the easiest way to find no. 1 cylinder now so i can install my new distributor? See i ask this becuase no.1 passes twice on any typical engine so i dont want to be at no.1 and have the cam not be at 12o clock and be at 6 instead. I know i could take out plug no 1 and feel for the compression to hit but then like i said i dont want to actually be at the wrong tdc position. I seen in a haines book u can see off the crank or soemthing but WTF with all the crap in the way how the heck am i suppose to see all that?.

Saw your other post. Don''t know if you still need this information, but here goes.
If you pull the spark plug and turn the engine over on the starter (also remove the wire from the coil to the distributor if you are not removing the other plugs), feeling for the compression stroke, you will have the proper positioning of the crank. The other time that #1 is at top dead center, the valves will be open, resulting in no pressure in the cylinder.
