I've got a 4x4 5 speed 87 Blazer here which as im told has the NP207 T-case. Yesterday i was checking fluid levels (transmission, t-case, front and rear diff) and i noticed the output shaft going to the front diff had alot of play (you could probably do close to 1/4 a turn each way.) Does anyone know how far from normal this is? i wouldnt be surprised if it needed rebuilding seeing as this truck has well over 200k miles on it.

A full 1/4 turn does seem a bit excessive, but is it when it is in 4wd or just in 2wd?  Is this with the engine off and trans in gear?  It is possible that you are just noticing the full back lash of all of the gears in mesh...

You can only turn the shaft like this when the car is in 4wd, if its not in gear it turns a bit more then it does when its in gear. I talked to a friend about it today and he said it was a little loose but should be fine as long as i didnt try to get floor it in 4wd.
