Testing a 4 button transfer case selector switch for an NP8 transfer case. I am also posting this on another forum just in case.
I bought the switch off eBay and I''m trying to test it outside the vehicle to make sure it is good before installing.
According to the book, there are the readings I should be getting followed by what I am getting.
Auto 4wd 64.9 64.6
4 HI 715 661
2 HI 1.82k 1.51k
4 LO 3.16k 2.34k
Then it shows a "normal" reading of 9.09k without any buttons pressed apparently, however on mine I get nothing. Now I know that there is normally supposed to be an 8v reference signal. Will this affect my test readings? (should I plug in and try to read the signals by shoving the leads into the harness?) The book also says to check and see if it is within parameters, but the book does not give any parameter readings, only the one value.
I am using a Fluke 335 meter and as far as I know it is operating normally for me.
Boy am I confused!!!
