Ok so my roommate asked me to post to get some opinions on his ride.
To start off its not a Blazer(or even a Chevy for that). He has a 99 Mazda Protege and is thinking of doing a little work to it. He wants to put in a LS series in it but doesnt know which one to go with. I told him to go with a LS1 just cause they are readily avalible and cheaper, I also told him if he does it to put in an IRS. He knows its alot of work but hes up for it(I told him to have fun).
Any opinions??

Thats more then a little work. He is going to need an entire new chassis made of tubing to get the support he is gonna need for that car. Might as well go buy an F body with an LS1, itll be alot cheaper.

I'm afraid that would take an awfully big shoehorn.

That will be a HUGE project. Has that ever been done? If he wants something different try swaping an LSx in 240sx. That isnt exactly rare but very cool. I have thought about doing that.

GM has an LS1 FWD block somewhere that might help speed the process... good luck finding it, though.

It wouldn't be considered a Mazda anymore he'd have to do so much work.

I told him to help my other roommate wreck his Corvette and buy it off him to put it all in the Mazda and call it Mavette...lol

Whoa, wait a minute, am I reading this right? Someone is thinking of putting a LS V8 in a mazda 4 banger front wheel drive zoom zoom zoom car? Holy cow and they call me frickinnuts!
That's the same car my wife drives. There aint room for my hands in there to change the belts.
Sounds like something Patrick Star would try....

lets just say that the firewall will be where the driver seat is, with the front doors welded shut and the drivers seat will be the back seat currently is

if i wanted it to be a high horsepower fwd, then i would put in a supercharged northstar

Then drop the body on a RWD chassis of similar wheelbase, or something built for a bigger engine.

Why is it so funny I have seen it done in a Prelude and Civic.
I wasn't laughing at the idea, I'm all for doing something that's completely unique. I was laughing because Blazin_Jason likes to say "pics or vidz or didn't happen" and when thegr81 said pics and video I couldn't help myself. No ill intentions on my part, it'd be cool to see.

i checked both threads, and the prelude was never finished. Sold off, or scrapped.
The other one is not running yet either.

Tell him to trade the Mazda for a Grand Am or Grand Prix, i'm sure it would be easier to do in one of those and would be just as original (as far as I know).
