This sounds weird....but it could be missing washers on your hood hinges. Pop your hood and grab the side of it and pull (parallel to the hood) back and forth relativly hard...You might here a small clank...if you want to test it shove a rag or something right in front of the hinges to put upward pressure on them...it should get rid of the clank...if you dont get what i mean with the rag thing...then lemme know...ill get a pic

I would jack the front end up under the control arms just enough to get it off the ground and get fingers under the front tire. Have friend push/pull on the tire to see if you get any play out of the ball joints especially the lowers, if so then you will have to replace them. Also at the same time check to see if they have been replaced before by looking for bolts instead of rivots holding the ball joints onto the control arm. Lower ball joints on the blazer if not greased on a regular schedule have a tendency to fail (as does anything else).

I had a problem like this but it didn't sound quite as extreme.  Check your front diff mounts.  If they break or work loose your front driveshaft will shift over and hit against your tranny.

check the tranny/xfer case mount. Mine had a broken bolt and broken rubber portion of the mount. See if you broke off one or both of the studs holding the mount to the cross member.
