Hello all.
I'm just a gear head that has never had to learn how to work on anything american that wasn't a motorcycle or a jeep. I'm not a mechanic....., I just work on my own $hit. My wife drives a 99 blazer with the vortec v6. I used to deliver Heavy Industry parts. Like an auto zone for 18 wheelers. Truck Pro. Matter of fact.
I had to drive the only gas truck on the lot wich just happened to be the new truck. Every one else had 3/4 tons and turbo diesel engines. I had a vortec v6. I drove the wheels off this truck every day for a year and a half. I respect the vortec series engine. But I have never had to work on one and they look totally foreighn to me. Kind of like dodge looks to alot of us these days.
My question is what other engines does cheverolet offer that will plug and play with the blazer??? I'm going to give this truck a tune up and a brake job and an oil change in the very near future. Any tips on spark plug removal and gapping or anything else in conjunction with the afore stated would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

first off welcome aboard... :)
Secondly feel free to post something up in our General Tech section or our engine section where it'll get a lot more attention as far as technical questions go.

welcome to the board...there aren't any other "plug and play" engines, but any small-block chevy v-8 will go in without much trouble. The #5 plug is hard to get at, get a cheap spark plug socket or a good one as long as it's a short one and has a hex on the end of it.....you put a box-end wrench over the socket to break it loose and then spin it out by hand.
