As far as shipping goes, it does seem that a lot of sellers are trying to keep their fees down, or at least cover their fee costs with the shipping. Personally I agree with TrippleBlackBlazer. I always just add the cost of the shipping and the item together when I'm deciding on a purchase. Being in Canada makes it very expensive for shipping from the US, but I cheat. I have a US shipping address with my business, and we do all our own brokerage. So I can get US shipping costs

I bought and sold lots of items on ebay and only been burned once.  I even refunded some money when an item I shipped was defective. But I do prefer PAYPAL and watch out for sellers with Zero or neg feed back.  I will also search the internet before I buy an item because sometime I find a better deal with an on-line retailer.  I bought my wifes MY 04 VOLVO S60 R on ebay.  No issues.

Ya, postage rates are to keep Ebay from taking so much of a chunk of the selling price. But you have to accept this beforehand if they post the S&H fee.

Also, as someone mentioned before, ALWAYS, ALWAYS USE A CREDIT CARD. Using a chargeback, or even the threat will often get results.

Sellers with many multiple feedbacks (esp. for multiple cheap items) from the same people are padding their feedback. Be careful.

Of course, if you don't already know, sellers can no longer leave feedback for buyers who have confirmed payment of an item, and they added more complexity and assistance to both the feedback and refund systems. This should help ebay quite a bit, IMO.

I haven't bought anything in the last month or two...  Are you saying as soon as I click PAY in paypal, They can't leave me a bad rating? I suppose in a way thats good but for people like me (never sold anything on ebay) how are we supposed to get feedback?

No, it must be a confirmed payment. For example, you can use your bank account to pay for an item, but it can take quite a while to clear, or you may be "insufficient funds" or a closed account. But, my understanding is that if your money has cleared within the term (time) limit specified by the auction, by way of CC or bank account in a way that is confirmable by Ebay, no seller may leave you negative feedback. They may leave neutral or positive feedback. And supposedly ebay will keep deadbeat/non-paying/overly demanding buyers from leaving negs on sellers.

Retaliatory feedback was a problem for me personally because I would try to leave honest feedback and just stopped using ebay for a long time because of it. That and all the f------ ing nigerian scammers on there. Such a pain. They should just ban all ips from the country, imo. But then they start using proxies, so what ya going to do .
